so I'm trying to figure out the uses for the 'recovery hook' - the hook that screws into the front spot on the bumper. The manual has information on page 6-15 that is sort of vague. Most importantly, I'm wondering if I can use this as a tie down hook for a Kayak? I'm updating my Yakima rack this week to be used for/with the LEAF and I'd like to be able to transport my Kayak but I need a tie down point. It would seem that this hook would be the perfect spot and keep me from having any rope rubbing an exterior surface of the car. Thoughts?

If you can use that "hook" to winch the Leaf up onto a car hauler, you should certainly be able to use it to tie down the front end of a kayak.

Should be plenty strong enough.
Be sure to screw it in at least an inch (approximately).
The front tie-down rope will be off center, so be sure to compensate for that.

Kayak will be centered over the hook though so no problems there.

Thanks gang! As always - very helpful info here.
