Took my Leaf to the dealer because the brake warning light came on. Was told the brake sensor needs replacing for $1100. They told me the sensor was $500 and $600 for installation. The service manager said the car had to be "powered down" because the sensor is "burried" in the car and too dangerous for the technician to get in there.

Bought one on Ebay for $174 (it's common for other cars) and changed it myself in about ten minutes. It's located on the underside of the master cylinder. Light's out and the dynamic braking has come back.

I hope others will do this themselves. I just had to find a stubby wrench 22mm.

Just tell others which stealership it was so others can avoid it.

This sensor is a common part on most vehicles that has ESC ABS system.
For example my local BMW dealership sells it for 146,5€.
Second hand sensor costs 10€.

It's true that vehicle needs to be powered down. That means you switch it off
and lock the doors so nobody can get in while you work with the vehicle.
Pretty expensive procedure... I see.
