2015 S quick battery percentage drop

Hey,

This has now happened twice in the last week. Car has never behaved this way. At about 12%, the car drops really quick. Like it says 12, then 8, then flashing all within a half mile. Skips all the numbers in between.

I have leafspy and it says all the cells are good. I’m going to make an appointment with Nissan but I’m just surprised by the suddenness of this and that LeafSpy doesn’t show anything wrong- even though it would seem like it has to be a problem with some bad cells, right?

Precious to this week I previously have driven to flashing dashes and never had it behave this way.

The cells are fairly well-balanced, but you can see there is a 229 mV range between them. That means that the lowest ones are nearly dead and are dropping out. That's why the capacity drops so quickly at the end. In our LEAF, this is much more of a problem in cold weather.
