Maintenance Tire warning.

Tue May 01, 2012 7:41 pm

I had noticed when starting up my Leaf I get a "Maintenance Tire" with a wheel icon display warning. I never noticed it before. But then I got a update when I took my Leaf in last month and was wondering if that is part of the update and it is just a system check light when starting up? It doesn't stay on and that is why I thought it is just a check light. Would anyone know of this? Or is this a legitimate warning and it means my tire pressure is low or something of that nature? I checked my revised manual and I found nothing about the "Maintenance Tire" light.

There are maintenence reminder settings. Poke around or recheck the manual. S/B easy to find and turn off.

Yeah, right. Easy, once you figure out that:
  • It has nothing to do with either set of settings that you can manage from the center console.
  • It's not covered in the navigation manual, where all that stuff is.
  • It's buried in the owners manual under that techno-speak heading "Dot Matrix Liquid Crystal Display".
  • Inside that it's under "Trip Computer", though what it has to do with trip computing I can't fathom.

I did turn it off (i.e. the mileage selection is blank) and I still get the "tire maintenance required" warning. 2013 SV with 8000 miles; tires were rotated and balanced at dealer at 7500 miles.

There is one in the dash info display that is controlled by the buttons to the left of the wheel and one in the center console controlled from the menu there... At least that is the way it is on my 2011.

I'll check that. I haven't looked at the menu for the center display--just the "maintenance" settings using the 4 buttons. Thanks!

The one that's causing you the problem is in the CENTER CONSOLE under "maintenance". You can adjust the mileage intervals and even turn them off (which might be easier).

That did it! Problem solved! (Why does the car have TWO places that can provide tire maintenance reminders?)

Probably for the same reason it has two clocks that are not synced to each other (at least prior to the 2013)...
