Re: 2015: Battery Data Report @ 100% Charge

As a general rule, accelerated degradation for Li-ion batteries occurs above 30 deg. C/86 deg. F. If they spend most of their time between 15 deg. C (59 deg. F) and 30C/86F, you can expect decent life and range.

is the average temp just the 24/7 average for your area? Cause that is HOT!

Thanks Dave. That's the average temp from Leaf Spy, so I'm assuming it is the battery temp (not the air temp) but don't really know over what period of time. As you said though, pretty hot. I'm guessing the battery temp in your neck of the woods doesn't typically get that high. :D

Actually I see temps in 90's frequently when OAT is in mid to low 80's. Full Sun and open asphalt does it every time but I have the advantage of a marine climate and cool temps every morning. Olympia generally sees 100% (or very near it) humidity every morning all year long. This almost always means temps in mid 50's even during the hottest part of Summer.

Typical Summer weather says highs in upper 70's to low 80's, lows in the mid to upper 50's. I think its the nightly cool downs that save me

These are my stats from another 2015 "Atlanta" car.

Mileage 30,867
GIDs 265
kWh 20.5
SOC 97.4
SOH 90
Hx 85.62
AHr 56.36
Avg Temp 82.6
# QCs 32
GOM at full 102 miles

I put about 1,600 miles a month on it and it was bought primarily as a run-about and a work car. I'm looking to 100,000 miles before I replace the battery and hand the key FOB to my son to drive it to high school.

Here are the stats from my new to me Atlanta Area 2015 Leaf S

Mileage 12,117
SOC 93.8
SOH 98
Hx 94.59
AHr 61.24
Avg Temp 75.9
# QCs 27
L1/L2 395

Should the AHr and SOH still be that high after 2 years? The Leaf was a lease turn in and was in the Atlanta area all its life.

I drive about 60 miles per day and L2 charge it every night. How often should I check the battery condition with Leaf Spy?

Wow oilman, those stats look great. My guess would be that your SOH is higher than expected b/c the miles are relatively low for the age of the car. I'm no battery expert, just a guess. As far as how often you check, that depends on how much you want to obsess over it. :-) I check mine every month or two.

Welcome to the "no oil changes for life" club, enjoy your Leaf!

Your numbers are pretty normal considering what appears to be very light usage. LEAFs do not thrive in the garage. The more you drive them, the higher the numbers stay.

After a bit more driving this week here are our latest numbers which are up slightly:

SOC=92.1%
AHr=56.60
SOH=91%
Hx=86.11%
odo=5,856

The car likes to be driven - need more trips... :lol:

your two pictures almost seems like they represent different cars! you are still 396+ on voltage, 95+% on GIDs but then you look at the other pix and??

This is weird to me. I am guessing your ahr , SOH, etc are depressed and needs a reset?

what is your GID value set to?
