Re: 2015: Battery Data Report @ 100% Charge

Sun Mar 04, 2018 5:41 am

I haven't posted stats in a while since my daughter (the Leaf's primary driver) has been away at college this year. She's back for the weekend so we charged overnight and I checked stats this morning. Stats continue to drop on our now 3+ year old 2015 S. Looks like we are just about ready to drop that first capacity bar.

Mileage 32,937
GIDs 251
kWh 19.5
SOC 97.2
SOH 86
Hx 78.28
AHr 53.49
Avg Temp 66.7
# QCs 57
GOM at full 80*

*She takes the highway home from college, roughly a 50 mile trip at 55 - 65 mph, so this lowers the GOM reading. She left yesterday near full charge and arrived with 19 miles on the GOM.

Your numbers mimic my own. I've owned my leaf for one year. I bought it CPO from a nearby Nissan dealer. Incidentally, it spent its first years in Buford, Georgia if I'm not mistaken.

Mileage: 28,180
GIDS: 252
kWh 19.5
SOC 97.4
SOH 86.25
HX 76.72
AHR 53.56
Avg Temp 64.8
#QCS 24

My numbers steadily decreased as the summer wore on. My daily drive is 34 miles round trip, and I don't mind driving 100+ miles when I have access to public charging. When I bought it, the car had 20.5 or 20.6 kWh. I'm the second owner and have had the car for one year. I'm hoping to hold to twelve bars through the summer, but I'm not holding my breath.

Good luck with that, I feel the same way. Actually I was hoping we would make 40k miles before dropping the first bar but since my daughter drives less now that she’s in college that almost certainly won’t happen. Still, we made 30k with all 12 bars which apparently was quite difficult in GA for pre-2014 Leafs. At this point I think we’ll have enough useful battery life to get her thru college. At that point we’ll either replace the battery (if Nissan offers a larger replacement pack at a more reasonable price) or she can sell it for market value and buy something else. Once she’s out of college, it’s on her dime! :-)

IMHO, I'm just north of you, and I lost my first bar at 43k+. You may agree that the bars drop based on time and not miles driven. I'm not trying to change your narrative from miles driven to years in service, but it is something that should be considered for some Leafs that are not baking in Phoenix.

This is why I have been driving the wheels off mine, and when I transfer to Miami next week, I'll continue to do the same. I will also hope that Nissan will not have the capacity to do a 24, 30 and 40 kwh for the same footprint, and choose to charge us all for the 40kwh. I'll pay for that instead of buying a new shell.

To get the rough amount of time to charge to 80%, I run this formula in my head: (80 - Display SOC) * 2 = minutes to charge.

Thanks I'll try that next time.

Haven't been much of a poster but my 2015 SL lease is ending and thought I'd post the stats updated yesterday in Leaf Spy.
This was after connecting to QC from 14 to 60% and then plugging into L2 when got home to take it to 100%.
I also always plug in at night and just let it charge completely.

Mileage 44,209
GIDs 291
kWh 22.6
SOC 96.9
SOH 100%
Hx 98.23
AHr 63.92
Avg Temp 66.7 [edit 64.4]
# QCs 69 L1/L2 1527

Hate to lose this car, but am getting numbers for 2018 Bolt Premier tomorrow, since I want to be able hopefully use just one car for commuting and travelling. Also heard on Friday that the 2018 LEAF is being delayed again in my area of PA, with a stop shipment, according to my salesperson who wasn't sure when they'll be getting them in.

We are losing our health about like the others recently posted - the car is around 3 1/2 years old even though we have owned it for about 2 1/2 years.

Here are the latest numbers:
odo=7957 miles
SOC=96.8%
AHr=53.70
SOH=86.48%
Hx=77.27%

So it looks like we may be close to the first bar drop as well - but with the AHr on the 2015's seeming to bounce around quite a bit I am not sure what the real numbers are.

We were able to drive a bunch and charge it to 100% several times in a weekend many months ago and the numbers shot right back up...

I didn't check mine for quite a while. Last SOH was 99% and now it's 86%.

AHr has stayed about the same for a couple years now. Currently 53.37 w/ 22,239 ODO.

Well it appears my last update on battery stats will be my final one. Last weekend my daughter was rear-ended in the Leaf, totaling the vehicle. Thankfully, she was unharmed and walked away without a scratch. We found out Monday the adjuster decided it was a total loss and Friday I picked up a check. For those who may be curious how the insurance company valued the Leaf (2015 S with QC), they offered me $11,900 which I thought was more than fair. Looks like Nissan’s efforts to prop up used Leaf prices paid off for us in this situation.
