Nissan Connect EV (Carwings) having problems?

Tue Jan 15, 2019 6:29 am

Nissan Connect EV (Carwings) had been working perfectly for me for many months. However, I can't connect any longer with my iPhone app or on line. I knew this couldn't last forever.

Is anyone else recently started having problems using the app or website?

Thanks!

Nissan’s EVConnect (née CARWINGS) rarely works for me, lately or otherwise. Maybe due to weak LTE at home, maybe not. Has always been iffy and unreliable. For me, just another LEAF disappointment along with the old maps, awful navigation interface, and absurdly decreasing range.

I haven't had a perfect experience with the app either for my MY13/MY18 vehicles, but it seems to work about 85 pct of the time. If it times out or fails to refresh, I do one of the following:

1. Sign out, then sign back in.
2. Turn on climate control, turn off.
3. Try again the next day.
4. Turn on car, login via head unit and let it connect

#1 works about 50 pct of time. #2 about 40 pct of time (climate command seems to "wake" up the TCU better for some reason)...the other options are random or if I have time.

As recently as late last night it was working fine on both cars. The MY18 is more reliable.

I have problems in a ATT cell phone coverage area... When the car is getting no bars, it can't connect, and you can't do anything remotely.

And there seems to be random outages of servers.

It is nice when it works, which is most of the time. But the failure rate is far higher than I would expect, or would like.

Hi, recently, we made a changes to website & APP protocols that caused unexpected disruption in access to the EV APP and intermittent login failures. We are currently working on resolving this and want to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience. ^AL

Yeah, seems to have happened a lot in the 7 years I’ve owned my LEAF.

Mine was working until some time in December when it quit. Neither refreshing the app's readout of the car's charge state nor turning on Climate Control worked. It had often failed in the past in places where I assume AT&T cell coverage was weak, but it was now failing everywhere. I was about to search MNL for "Fuse 34" when all of sudden it just started working again a few days ago.

In November I had the TCU installed in my 2011 Leaf. It didn't work. One day later the dealer got a notice that the old part numbers were not valid for my year Leaf . I took it back and they put in the right part. That didn't work. I contacted Nissan EV specialists. The whole saga is on the other thread, so I'll skip it here. The bottom line is that now, two months later it still isn't working, the dealer says I need to work through Nissan and Nissan says I need to "reach out to the dealer." They are now claiming the dealer put in the wrong part the second time. The original 2G system worked great for me from my desktop, so I didn't bother to check here before springing for the new 3G TCU. At the moment I'm out $200 and don't have a working TCU.

I had the 3G TCU installed in December 2016 and it has worked fine except for draining the 12-volt battery once when it failed to sleep (a few Nissan system outages have prevented communication with the car for short periods of time, but no outages recently). I learned to pull the fuse to reset the TCU if it fails to transmit and gives an EV System error in order to avoid discharging the 12-volt battery while parked. It has only required a few fuse pulls (certainly less than 10) since the battery was drained in October 2017. The latest version of the Android app responds quickly for starting climate control from my BlackBerry, but status updates are much slower. I may ask for the TCU software update when I take the car in for its annual battery check if there are no negative posts about the update.
