When I was applying for insurance, I explained to the CSR that carwing is a telematic system, similiar to onstar. But now that I think about it, it doesn't seems like it would allow me lock or unlock doors, prevent theft, track the car's location, etc...or does it?

If Carwings tracks the car's location, me thinks many folks will not be using carwings. ;)

Um, carwings sends you a reminder email if you don't plug the car in when you get home. It certainly does know where you are.

I asked an engineer from the Tennessee headquarters who was at Tucson's drive tour in December if the LEAF could be tracked or even turned off if stolen. He said, no, it is not capable of doing that.

If a law enforcement agency made a request for the location, based on the cell phone triangulation, I would think that AT&T would provide that to them.
