For those of you without the internal wiring from the front to the rear, what kind of wire did you use. All I have right now is telephone and network cable, does anyone know if that is adequate for the video?

Stranded cable is better, since there is regular movement in the vehicle. Most telephone and network cable is solid and intended for use in a static environment.

Hi all, I have a 2013 SV (Nav without Bose) that I'm attempting to add the OEM backup camera to, and have run into an issue. Unlike many of you, I don't appear to have camera wiring in the main harness - it's not in the driver kickpanel connector (M21), and it's not available at the rear of the AV unit (M96.) I assume the AV unit itself still supports a camera though, so I'd ideally like to add the missing pins to the existing connector and see if that works. The connector, unfortunately, looks like it's part of the $1200 main electrical harness, so I can't just buy it to steal pins from. I think the pins themselves are an uncommon Sumitomo product line not sold in quantities under 50k: http://prd.sws.co.jp/components/series/pdf/en/nh.pdf

Has anyone successfully wired up a 2013 SV that's missing the camera wires at the AV unit? Thanks for any advice.

My wires were only in the kick panel, like others that posted, they did not run to the back of the car so I spliced in there. Have you tried checking ebay or someone recycling leaf's to get your missing connector and wires?

I have a 2011 SV; did they come with the factory wiring cables?; if so where do they end? (EDIT) Never mind, I read the entire thread and found the wiring is missing starting at the head unit cable on the 2011 SV. Also, the OP recommends you use an OEM camera and not aftermarkets.

Does the red camera power wire have voltage at all times when the car is on, or only when the car is in reverse?

I'm putting in a rear facing dash cam and need to find a power line that is on at all times when the car is on.

I just finished installing the factory backup camera in my 2013 SL. My car had 13 wires on the body side of the B18 connector (meaning it had the correct body harness for the camera), and it had the correct hatch harness (with the wiring and connector for the camera), so I just bought the following parts, installed them and the camera just worked. It took maybe 30 minutes to install.

Just bought an off lease 2013 Leaf Sl. It's a very nice car with Leather, Navigation, and only 19-K miles. Everything I read before purchase indicated that the SL model had the backup camera as standard equipment. When I discovered that it DID NOT have a backup camera, I took it to my local Nissan Mega-Dealer in Indianapolis. The service dept. informed me that it was impossible to hook up a camera to my car and that if I tried to do it myself it would void my warranty (I still have a few months left on the bumper-to-bumper warranty). The dealer suggested that I trade my car for a Leaf that had a backup camera as the best solution. Uh, Right.

It really hacks me off that Nissan changed the specs on the SL and required the ordering of a Premium package for and extra grand to get the backup camera. Since I went from a Civic Hybrid EX-L Navi with backup camera to the Leaf, I really miss the safety of the backup camera! Does anyone know of a dealership in the Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio area that would install a backup camera, or an expert electronics shop that could help me out?
