So I did some research and saw many peeps have done the Fiamm El Grande horns and been happy with them. I found some WoLo horns that claim 114db and were less than half the price. They didn't come with a mounting bracket but made my own and am very pleased with them

Nice job. The brackets between your bracket and the horns is what they all come with, and most of us have been able to just use those. I myself stacked the horns one above the other - one on the captured nut that was for the original horn and the other on a second captured nut that wasn't being use for anything from the factory (almost like they expected to have dual horns from the factory but then didn't).

Interesting....that sounds like it would have been easier and prob I would have done that instead.... Some benefits of how mine turned out are they slightly visible, stealthy (which I like)and pointing right out the lower grille, funny because you can hear the sound "bounce" off whatever is in front of the vehicle with a slight delay depending how far away it is lol

Which model Wolo is that?
I see a bunch of them on Amazon, but not one that looks like yours.

Also, any chance you can make a short video demonstrating what they sound like?

Wolo horns are good inexpensive horns that are available at most auto parts stores. These horns are essentially a knock-off of the Hella Super-tone horns which generally go for about $65.

In my current 2014 LEAF, I installed the Hella super-tone horns. They fit without a bracket (the fit is tight, but doable), but this bracket that the OP made is very nice.

Both the Hella and the Wolo knockoff have a typical european sound, and are very loud.

And of course if you have a newer LEAF, the access to the horn mounting point is done from under the car.

These are them. Mine were $25 so maybe they went up??

Doesn't sound like these were much more expensive, and if you're happy with them, that's what's important. Personally, I think yours look nicer, anyway. I'm currently trying to decide if it's worth swapping the horns on mine, so added choices are a good thing.

I picked up a set of these after reading some recommendations:

http://www.harborfreight.com/2-piece-12-volt-electric-horn-set-99911.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I had those WOLO horns on my Mazda 3 and they're great, but the Harbor Freight horns are as loud and sound like a 70's land yacht!

Wow! That's a great deal. Need to pick those suckers up! (I can always use an excuse to run over to Harbor Freight) ;)

If anyone installs these Harbor Freight ones, please report back.

I'm guessing this is also going to make the door locking action much louder (when using the fob)?

that is a different, separate horn..wont be affected....I would be a bit leary or relying on anything from Harbor Freight for my horns lol

I've put in quite a few Wolo horns in LEAFs, and the sound is a nice deep "Buick" sound of horn. The alarm is not affected as it uses a separate horn.

Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, Harbor Freight stuff isn't always of the highest quality to say the least... but on the other hand, I'd suspect that one of the horns would sound at least...

The Wolo products at HF are the same ones that auto Parts retail stores sell. They are just fine and a good value for their price.

As a general comment of the quality of Harbor Freight tools, I have been buying tools from them since the 1990s, and while in the early days some of the product's workmanship was suspect, the tools that I have purchased in the last 10 years have been of excellent quality. But HF always stood by their products, and when I had a faulty one, HF did not hesitate to replace it or refund my purchase. (keep your receipt for any tool purchase)

I still have and use many HF tools that I purchased in the '00s and I tend to look for tools at my local HF first before I buy them elsewhere.

On the other hand, I have seen a real degradation of the quality and workmanship of Craftsman tools, especially those that use a 2 or 4 cycle engine. I really can't recommend Sears or Craftsman these days.

Were the linked ones also Wolo? Couldn't find any info that links it to them.

true that about Crapsman- growing up they were the best, funny you mentioned their engines because now Harbor Freights Predator engine line is pretty good - I build systems that use 4 cycle engines (http://www.detrailers.com) and would only use Honda for many years, the past 4 years we started using the Predators on some of our systems with great results...plus HF has a great no questions asked return policy...many of my shop tools are HF....just not horns lol

It sure sounds like the stock horn when you lock the car with the remote fob.

Remember, I'm not talking about the soft beeps when you push the lock button on the door handle (which are probably generated by the VSP hardware).

Guess I need to give those WOLO horns a try.
