I have successfully swapped out my 3.6kw for a 6.6 with DC quick charge. No quick charge cord to test but I'm thinking it works.

Interesting first post, I hope there are pictures coming.

This is the charger that came with my 2013 S and it was really slow and had to go. I purchased a 6.6kw charger from ebay and it was suppose to have only 900 miles on it. I didn't know it had the dc quick charge also that was a bonus. I don't have a cord to hook it up and test it so i just blocked off the hole for now till i can find a cord for the low.
Disconnected both batteries and wore gloves the whole time. 6 13mm bolts hold it to the inverter. 2 14mm bolts for the bus bars and 2 10mm bolts for the battery cable. All other bolts were 10mm except the 12v cables they are 14 i believe. 4 hrs total time and had to plug the coolant lines to not get air pockets or loose fluid.

This is an ebay special $300 plus shipping. Looked brand new and the seal had never been used but on four holes? Idk it works. As you can see the screen looks just like the SV and SL models or S with charging package. Total time 4 hrs. Plug coolant lines to avoid loosing fluid with sharpies lol.

I agree, seems it was plug n' play installation for the charger. Actually glad to know the 3.3kW and 6.6kW can be easily interchanged. I look forward to hearing how the QC install went. Could give new life to S models if one can swap out those components and it work (labor and technical challenge aside). Great pictures! Wish you could attach them directly to this forum.

I was confident after seeing the wires going into the charger was the same for both. I searched for days to find someone else that did the swap and found questions and no answers. As for 1 gens not sure but those busas are mighty pricey.
Next upgrade will be dual evse onboard. 120v and a open evse 240v 50 amp. Tired of this freaking cable that I carry on my car anyways. Going to hard wire them in or that's the plan so I will just need extension cords :) probably been done already lol.
Update: found this thought i would share. Will move to new post when ready.http://modularevpower.com/Wiring/J1772%20and%20NEMA%20wiring.htm

Great! I was not aware that the actual charger is in the "engine". I thought that It was in the trunk or under the trunk area??

It was in 2011/2012 MY, starting from 2013 it has been relocated to the front which eliminated the hump behind the rear seats.

Hi!

Can anyone confirm or refute that the part number for the 6.6kW charger is # 292C03NF3B?

I have a chance to buy what I think is the right part, but hate to make a mistake.

Cheers all!

Yep. For '11 and '12: http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=69224.

For '13+: http://articles.sae.org/11993/ and http://sfbayleafs.org/news/2013/01/2013-nissan-leaf-product-highlights/. Moving the OBC to under the hood freed up a bit of room in the trunk/hatch area, part of which ends up being taken up by the Bose subwoofer if one has the premium package.

Based on the info at this site, that appears to be a 2013 6kW w/QC:

That's a lot of revisions. Unsure if there were any issues with some of these leading to their short lifespans...

@SuperLeaf, thanks for sharing!

One question: where is the part number located on the actual part?

The numbers afterward like 3NF6B might actually refer to firmware revisions. Turbo3 dumped out 3NF6B for charger on my car at http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=465197#p465197. My car has 6 kW OBC but NO QC.

I referred to service campaign NTB13-098 at http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=430313#p430313, which I'm pretty sure I had done. The PDF for that TSB does NOT have 3NF6B but has a table where they want the tech to verify eligibility BEFORE reprogramming. The charger part number is supposed to be one of the below (before). The procedure talks about verifying the number is different afterward, but doesn't say what it should be other than different.

MODEL YEAR 2013 LEAF® (ZE0)
CURRENT CHARGER/PD MODULE PART NUMBER: 292C0-
3NF0A, 3NF1A, 3NF2A, 3NF3A, 3NF4A, 3NF5A, 3NF6A, 3NF7A, 3NF8A, 3NF9A, 3NF2B, 3NF3B,
3NF0C, 3NF1C, 3NF2C, 3NF3C

A bit odd, but why would Nissan know that the current charger will be replaced 04/20/2017?

Brilliant effort on charger swap. :D :!:

But hard wired 120V is bad idea.
The industry came up with EVSE for valid important safety reasons.
Then the really smart people decide to go around it cause they can't tolerate a cable in the car :?

But really virtually all of the problems J1772 set to solve become problems again when you use a 120 volt portable EVSE so it doesn't seem like a big deal to me...
