I have a 2015 SV model LEAF ~ 1N4AZ0CP7FC312977

I'd like to have the SL HomeLink mirror installed. Is that possible?

Here is what I believe is the part number: 963213WV0A

OrientExpress did this to his 2014 SV and said the wire plug is NOT the same as the SL: http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=17094

However, for less money you can get a Gentex Homelink mirror with autodimming that looks suspiciously like the one that Leafs have: http://a.co/ansmoFf My guess is that Nissan contracts with Gentex to supply these mirrors. It comes with a plastic piece to hold the wires onto the windshield.

Even cheaper version that I had linked to in the above thread: http://a.co/gPhmEVU

We too have an SV and are thinking of doing this. It is the only SL feature we like (we hate leather seats) . However I.m not sure I understand, is there wires (power) going to the existing SV mirror? We are not near the car and won't be for a while to look.

Thanks

Yes because the SV mirror is autodimming. According to OrientExpress, the difference in wiring harnesses is that the SV's only has switched power and the Homelink mirror requires both switched and unswitched power, so you have to add an unswitched 12 volt lead.

I installed a homelink mirror (seller said it came from a Nissan Quest). Make sure you get one with the wiring harness, as the connector is different. Also make sure you get one from a late model car >2012?, as there are issues with newer garage openers and older homelink mirrors.

I spliced the homelink mirrors switched and unswitched power together, so I was able to use the wire that was there for the existing SV mirror. You won't be able to use the homelink buttons with the car off this way - but I actually prefer it this way and my other car works this way by default.

Thanks for the tips all, it encouraged me to install a Homelink autodimming mirror. I had the base unpowered mirror before, so I just tapped it into the map light power.

Of course the mirror compass stays on for a few minutes after shutting the car off, like an interior light would, but no big deal.

I'm finally getting back to this post.
Awesome information.

RonDawg's two links appear to be the same mirror except one has a compass and the other doesn't.
Personally, I don't know why anyone would pay an extra $70 for the compass.

I will be doing this to my Mother's LEAF very soon.
However, I also bought a 2015 LEAF Yesterday and will be doing mine as well.
I'll be wiring it to the switched power and NOT wiring the unswitched lead.
If someone breaks into the car, then they won't be able to open my garage door without the key fob.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
Now all I have to do is see how to get the stock auto-dimming mirror off and the new GENTEX GENK40A on.
