Can I just say that (even though it's been a year since I changed mine) all of a sudden I'm really hating on the stock baby-vomit-yellow front marker lights in other folks' LEAFs. CHANGE THEM OUT FOR LEDS PEOPLE! YOU KNOW THAT SH*T AIN'T RIGHT!

Just be cautious. The parking lamps are in the same housing as the high beams and LEDs can be destroyed by them. I used Sylvania 921 T10s in that spot as DRLs. High beam does not destroy incandescent lamps.

Interesting. I did not know that. Still, I've had mine for over a year now, and use my high beams every time I run through our neighborhood (which admittedly is not for very long). So is what you're suggesting a factor of running the high beams for an extended period of time, like on a long nighttime drive in the (unlit) countryside?

I doubt that the halogen high beams will generate enough heat to damage quality LEDs. I do have another caution for owners of 2015 LEAF SLs: I replaced the dome and cargo lights with Sylvania LEDs without incident. I then replaced the front parking light on the left with the same Sylvania LED that I used in the 2011 and it lit for about 10 seconds before blowing a 10-ampere fuse hidden in a power distribution module. There is no indication in the owner manual that there are fuses hidden in power distribution modules (one on each side under the hood on top of the front fenders). The lights are working again with the original bulb reinstalled and a new fuse. I still want to complete my LED conversion, but I need to get some spare fuses and do some more investigation as to cause before I replace the parking lights. I had no problems when I replaced the parking lights in the 2011 with the same Sylvania LEDs and I really liked the look without the yellow glow.

Update 2/21/2015: I tested the Sylvania LED with a separate 12-volt battery and confirmed it is not polarity sensitive and draws very little current. I then measured the voltage and visually inspected the socket and found no issues so I plugged the very same LED in that caused the blown fuse and it worked fine. I next replaced the parking light on the right with a Sylvania LED and tested it. It all worked fine so I now have nice white parking lights.

Thanks,
Gerry

I have turned my parking lamps into DRLs. I have new T10 LED lamps that produce 950 lumens and will try them. I'll see if these will hold up with the heat of the high beam lamps.

I see an increasing number of new cars on the road running factory LED license plate lights. Does anyone know if any of these manufacturers use a 2825 bulb that will work in the LEAF? I'm on my second set of aftermarket LED bulbs and they just don't hold up. The Sylvania/Osram bulbs seem to hold up but are way too bright.

Not looking for an aftermarket solution, I would like an OEM solution. Anyone?

On my 2011 Leaf the plate lamps use a T10 base. Any T10 lamp will work. Don't know if the newer models still use the same configuration.

No problems with my aftermarket LEDs from superbrightleds.com for the last 15 months. OK, I did have one bad right out of the box, but they obviously exchanged that without any issues.
