This is a new level 3 EV charger. I have problem using it. First of all, it asks you to plugin first, but I like to test the charger first before using it. Secondly, it takes time to scan the RFID. Lastly you need to press the touch screen a few times (you can hear the beep but no action is taken, the touch screen is sensitive enough). I thought new unit should be better not worse. This is new charger because, previously before this was opened to public, we had the video proof:
EV quick charge station at Free And Easy, address: 1180 N Fair Oaks Ave Sunnyvale, CA 94089

Your post was pretty vague as from the title. I didn’t know if you were talking about the on-board charger, an EVSE (since many people here use the wrong term) or a DC fast charger. And, what is “new” vs. old?

I doubt the list at http://www.chademo.com/wp/chademocharger/ is complete.

DC fast charger. I have never seen this interface shown in this video before. I will modify the title.

you might want to start using no tag, just the URL instead of the youtube tag with the URL inside. My browser isn't showing the video links in your posts and other browsers will have the same issue.

I had no idea you had videos in your post until I went to reply

It looks like a unit made by http://www.btcpower.com/products-and-applications/EV-Fast-Charger/.

Yeah... it does look like their interface, touchscreen and car reader needs some work. They should have much larger hit targets on those buttons, besides making the buttons larger and spacing them further apart.

No matter. I don't have a car w/CHAdeMO anymore and I never was eligible for Nissan NCTC since I leased my 1st Leaf way before the program began. My replacement's a month older, has no CHAdeMO anyway, and is just as ineligible.

In the future, if you're going to compare DC FCs, might be a good idea to take pics of the labels and then specify the make and model in your post.

Thank for letting me know, I would never thought about it.

BTC is another California company building chargers, located in Santa Ana (SoCal).

The first one is at Quail Hill, Irvine, CA. I had a heck of a time with BTC when attempting to use our JdeMO for the RAV4 EV. I almost gave up on it, until we figured out that the 12 volt power supply that powers the vehicle's contractors was also the same (weak) power supply that ran the computer that operates the charger. It would actually do a full crash / shut down of the computer. I got a few pics of the Windows start up menu.

We did a work around just for BTC (and a few work arounds for Blink), and it now works. The Quail Hill unit has a HUGE screen, so I guess they saved a few bucks with the tiny screen on this unit. The two of these in Irvine are both 48-50 amps (CHAdeMO is a 125-200 amp standard currently).

BTC got a contract with NRG / eVgo, and now these are popping up in Washington state (CHAdeMO only) and the San Fran area.

I got free charge at work. I mainly just try the charger to see if it is free and to see if it works.

How, exactly, do you "test" a charger?

Thank you for sharing your experience. What was your work around?
