When considering buying an EV or PHEV, be sure to also check local incentives as well as Federal and State.

My county just launched a program whereby they give county residents a voucher to buy an EV or PHEV through an in-county dealer. In addition to the voucher amount (upto $2,200 off), they negotiated with the dealer to provide at least an equal amount discount from MSRP. The later is moot for Leaf as those already have $4k NMAC cash off. But for other models, getting the dealer to provide a $2,200 discount and then getting $2,200 from the county in addition to the Federal and State incentives can be real nice. :D

And even for the Leaf, this voucher would save you $2,200.

Don't know how many counties/cities have incentives. But it is worth finding out and factoring that into your purchase/lease considerations.

I *thought* that New York had passed a $2k EV purchase credit, but that Nissan page doesn't mention it when I put in my ZIP code. Please tell me it wasn't dropped at the last minute...

No, my county's program isn't listed. But the program is a limited number of vouchers and requires applying for one. Then they will hold a drawing to see who gets them. If they aren't fully subscribed at the time of the drawing, the remaining will then be available on a first come, first served basis. I'm guessing this is too much of a question for Nissan to tout when trying to sell these cars. They wouldn't want to claim it is available only to have the customer not be able to get it.

Also, the customer needs to get the voucher first, then go shopping. It can't be retroactively applied.
