I park outside. I charge every night. It snows. Sometimes, the area around the chargeport has snow. At first, I tried brushing it out with the bristle-end of a windshield scraper/brush. But I didn't get all the snow. When I unplugged the EVSE from the car, a small amount of snow fell into the open chargeport. I was worried that it would melt while the car drove, then refreeze, and get in the way, and I'd have to get a hair dryer (per the manual... though, I'm not confident that the EVSE port on the Leaf has drainage for the little electrical contact sleeves).
A small brush, like a 1" or 2" paintbrush can help brush away loose snow before you unplug the charger. I keep one outside next to the EVSE.
