Yes, very interesting. Thanks for the link. Although we keep thinking that faster 6 KW chargers are necessary, the data show that most EVs are plugged in for about 12 hr/day but only charge for 2-3 hr/day.

Also interesting to see the differences between the Volt and Leaf. Volt: higher average miles driven than the Leaf, more charging events per day, almost all return empty and charge to full. Leaf: fewer charging events per day (around 1.1), most return with about 50% SOC and charge to full. I think this validates some of the discussion we've seen suggesting that the Volt will help people drive more EV miles than the Leaf. Also, it confirms that the user accessible battery capacity is more fully used in the Volt than in the Leaf.

I still can't understand why most Leaf owners are charging to >80% especially since they return with around 50% SOC (unless it's because most are leasing and don't care about the battery long-term).
