Re: Leaf Spy and Leaf Spy Pro

Mon Oct 31, 2016 10:00 am

Hi

Can anybody explain me how does the LeafSpy Pro calculate power?
Is it like that:

Motor Pwr = 2 * Pack Volt * Pack Amp + AUX Pwr + A/C Pwr

and here is related graph:

https://s18.postimg.org/t5ul57eop/equation_1.png

Why is it then multiply by 2?
Are there 2 paraller voltage sources, cause there are two columns with volts "HVolt1" and "HVolt2" ??? Then the power equation could be:

Motor Pwr = HVolt1 * Pack Amp + HVolt2 * PackAmp + AUX Pwr + A/C Pwr

and related graph:

https://s15.postimg.org/ugyb0znmj/eqaution_2.png

Even if it is correct there is still some mismatch between lines? How to explain that?

Thanks you Guys in advance!

dropping connection to OBD-II

Thu Nov 17, 2016 10:35 am

Since 0.38.38, I've noticed that LeafSpyPro seems to lose the connection to the dongle (using Android and this bluetooth v1.5 dongle). With 0.38.39, it seems to drop the connection constantly. When this first started happening, I thought it might be the Y adapter going bad or a problem with the OBD-II port, since it seemed to gradually go bad. Since I reverted back to 0.38.35 I've had a perfectly stable connection to the dongle.

Tapping the 3 dots does nothing in Leaf Spy Pro for me.

And I have to reboot everytime I want to get the menu.

What android device do you have? Does it have a recent apps key (overlapping rectangles)?

If it has the recent apps key then just hold it down to get the menu to display.

Does anything happen if you just hold down on the upper right corner of the screen?

What do you do now to get the menu to appear after a reboot?

I am still having this problem, haven't been able to access the menu at all, Any suggestions?

what size font are you using? because anything bigger than normal will cause everything to move around. the app does not adjust to these changes which is one of the primary reasons my LEAF Spy is on a separate phone. I pretty much have my regular phone on extra large everything

Hi folks! I'm wanting to use LeafSpy on my Leaf but I'm trying to figure out ask what I need.

I don't have an Android or Apple device. Will it work on an Android Emulator on a Windows Tablet (Surface 3)? If not, what device would be recommended (I have T-Mobile with a Nokia phone).

Is the Pro version worth it?

What OBD2 adapter is the best?

What else do I need?

Incorrect current readings

I recently bought Leaf Spy Pro (v0.38.80 en) for Android, using a Konnwei OBDII on a 2016 Leaf with 30kWH battery. Excellent app, lots of data - I'm down loading the CSV files and graphing them.

When I plot column 10 in the CSV, "Pack Amps", it gives half the real value. E.g. charging on an OpenEVSE at 240V, 12A, the EVSE meter reads about 11.4A and the CSV gives about -5.7. Charging on an EVduty EVC30T-05 at nominal 30A, 240V the CSV gives -15.

Leaf Spy gives you the current into or out of the battery. Since the battery is between 300 and 400 volts (depending upon SOC) the DC current at the battery (output side of charger) will be less than the current measured on the 240 volt AC input to the charger.

Frustrated: my 6th attempt to get a matching OBDII:
- 1 arrived, didn't work - connected to phone, Leaf Spy Pro didn't connect
- 2 were never even shipped: so, 2 30 day delays to get an A-Z guarantee
- The Konwei 902 doesn't appear to be available anywhere...
- I'm looking at 2 on my desk: Panlong and BLE... both recommended by users on Seattle Leaf Forum on Facebook.

Panlong works with Leaf Spy Lite, but not Leaf Spy Pro.
BLE doesn't even connect with my phone... so not selectable with Leaf Spy Pro.

I'm a software engineer - Are there utilities to help me debug why these are issues?
I very much want all the features Leaf Spy Pro offers...

I've been at this for 6 months - check my purchase iD - jlynker@gmail.com... bought Leaf Spy Pro way back in July or August...

I don't log on here very often so, if you would please, contact me via my email address. Thanks..

^^^
I suspect user error if it works w/Leaf Spy Lite but not Pro. Perhaps both apps are running? Kill both of them and start over. Perhaps there's just some flakiness that requires you to unplug/replug the dongle and/or restart the app? I often have to futz with this.

I bought the two at viewtopic.php?p=432005#p432005 when I was a huge hurry because my 1st Leaf lease was going to end and I needed Leaf Spy to help me shop for a used Leaf. 1st one I tried worked off the bat. Never even bothered w/the second one.

Reboot your phone? I've used Leaf Spy Pro w/the dongle I mentioned across 3 phones w/o any issues: Samsung Galaxy S4, then S6 then Nexus 5X.
