But I will start a new one since we have a dedicated forum now.

To make a long story short, these guys have been trying to sell a solar installation to me.
The came up with so called "proposal" where they outlined system size, annual production, ROI, years to break-even etc.
All looks nice except a few red flags:

1. What they sell is a 20-year lease, in the same time they don't forget to mention potential home value increase (although in case of leasing, the panels turn to be a liability instead of an asset)

2. They project PG&E price increase at 6% annually and compute ROI based on it.
However quick check of the PG&E web site reveals:

year 1996: E1 Rate base line: $0.11589

Price increase for the LAST 15 years: $0.00644
% increase for the ENTIRE 15 years spawn: 5.5%
Annual % increase: 0.3%

3. They are saying that I will "likely to be able to keep" panels for free after 20 years, but this will be not put in writing.

I am not so sure whether I should go with these guys as it all sounds like a timeshare presentation where you are projected hotel price growth at 10% annually

Thanks Jason. Their approach/model is indeed like a timeshare.

I too was initially signed up to try and get an assessment. Luckily, I did not pursue.

PG&E rates are relatively low. I have E9B 2nd meter for my Leafing needs.

That's the point. There are two choices for me really: invest into solar or install a 2nd meter.
How much did you spend on a 2nd meter installation?

As you probably know, everyone's E9B install will be different. In my case, here's the breakdown:

$1700 (Electrical work, wiring and installation of a new DSquare dual turret frame)
$265 (Permits)
$250 (Once off fee paid to PG&E for a 2nd E9B turret) Note: I was told by someone else in the Santa Clara county that PG&E did NOT ask for this fee. But, the rest of the folks I spoke to in Alameda county were required to pay PG&E this fee.

We are a 2 Leaf household which leaves us no choice but to install the 2nd meter for E9B rates.
