Additional 25 Chademo with level 2 backup planned for BC

Thu Jan 05, 2017 10:10 pm

So now that phase one of the DCFC install program has been completed (last one in my home town Vernon last september) the phase 2 sites have apparently been selected and installations to start this summer. A final list has not been published but apparently they will consist of the same Chademo stations they have been using as well as a backup up level 2 J1772. Total of 25 additional stations in phase two to be added to the 30 stations already installed in phase one. There are apparently about 1100 level 2 stations in the province currently running. The Phase two project will be completed by march 2018. The attached document does not show the location of the new stations but does show the routes they will concentrate on. Looks like the northern interior will have to wait until phase three. The map does show the existing 30 stations.

There was a B.C. Gov. survey last year which I included the need for dcfc at the ferries ( lower mainland), highway 4 (Toffino run near Port Alberni) and Hwy 19, hopefully north Island as it is extremely limited between Campbell River and Port Hardy.
Good to see they made it to their priority list

Thank you for making the suggestion. We would really like to see one in Cache Creek. We have suggested it to a couple charger organizations but never thought to contact the government.

I think BC is coming along pretty good. We rarely travel to the coast from Vernon but even with a 150 KM leaf this is easy now. They need to start working on the Prince George Corridor but that is really truck country so not sure how soon that will happen.

Exciting times.

Nice find on that gov't doc for expressions of interest for the next phase!

In January I stumbled on something of interest for the Kootenay region too - http://kootenaybiz.com/bizblog/article/ ... _kootenays - I think they will be installing some this year and next.

Very cool. Yes, infrastructure is lacking along those routes. Good to see some interest.
