Hello,
I'm a N Denver resident and just purchased my Black SV 2 weeks ago from Go Nissan in Thornton. I must not drive much because I've only put 350 miles on it but we're using it for nearly everything. I think this car will make me lazy. I have absolutely no qualms about driving to the store anymore and I used to try to cycle for my shorter errands! I'm trickle charging since my new garage doesn't have 220 and I'm not excited about adding ~$2k to the cost of this car. So far no issues with just trickle charging. The lease deal was stellar @ 204/mo x 36mo with 2000 down all fees included. I'm trying to make my case for this car everywhere I go but most folks still this its kinda weird. Anyway, hello to you all and I'd love to meet some fellow Leaf owners.

Welcome Oliver! Don't you just LOVE driving past those gas stations? I do. Sounds like you got a great deal, and made a great decision, too. Lots of valuable information on this forum---along with some not-so-good. :)

are you surprised at the short distance of your driving needs? this is actually pretty common. most people i talk to its the same story; "oh my work commute is not that much maybe 15-20 miles round trip but some days i drive two three times that much for errands..."

the last part is BS for the most part. i have done EXACTLY and unless i am crisscrossing town several times, i usually lucky to get to 40-50 miles (and that is farther than average because i do have to crisscross town a bit...)

No I'm not surprised by the short distances. I was only driving my old Mazda ~5k miles/yr when I sold it. Its fine actually because we moved to Denver from Longmont FOR the shorter, bikeable commutes. So yeah, its all good. I think I'm gonna need to push the driving distances to prove to my more curious friends that a Leaf could really work for them with no compromises. Maybe things will get more interesting over the winter?

ahh, rare to see one make the HUGE commitment to sustainability by moving. I have done the same about 9 years ago and sometimes i regret the money from not commuting for higher pay but in the rare times I have to deal with traffic up North, it never fails to reaffirm my decision.

during winter, it might be more of a challenge. during our heavy snowfall (2 feet!! which basically closed the State Capital of WA for 4 days) i was seeing a range of about 35-40 miles but EVERYWHERE i went for 2 days required me to rock the car to get going every time i stopped. definitely affected my performance. i had a few days where i was averaging 2.5 miles/kwh which is a shock compared to the 3.8-4.2 i normally get in winter

There is no need to spend 2k on installing a 240 volt outlet. I have installed 3 of them at different locations and every one of them was LESS than 100 each for the parts. Each one also took LESS than 1 hour to install.

If you are not comfortable doing the install yourself just shop the local Electricians in your area and I am sure you can get one for less than 2k. All you really need is a 20 amp circuit with an outlet box with an L6-20 outlet. Then get the http://www.evseupgrade.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That usually only lasts until I tell them how much it costs me to fuel the car each month.

Welcome! Spend some time reading and this forum will reward you with more good information than you can imagine. Here's a couple of things you may find interesting due to our "similarities". BTW, I used to cycle the triangular loop through Boulder, Lyons and Longmont. I hear you on the extra driving:http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=9939&p=226048#p226048

Previous threads on similar topics may provide info (and help Phil and others so they don't have to repeat all of their excellent advice):
