Any of you SLC area LEAFers tried for the Long-range-on-one-charge record?

Your relatively high altitude and high Summer temperatures, and many relatively level route options, all will give you a great advantage.

If you find a safe low speed route, and are patient enough, over 160 miles should not be too hard to achieve, IMO.

But to go much further than that, you will probably have to find a route allowing lower-than-normal driving speeds.

Yes, have been getting lots of info over there, but there isn't much of a Utah contingent, so this thread could come in handy for locale-specific EV questions. Cheers!

Hey Gary! I've been seeing quite a few LEAFs around just lately. For a long time it seemed like all 7 or 10 or? of us all knew each other, but now random sightings are getting common. Josh is still at Tim Dahle Nissan & he sent me the nice 2013 brochure w an amazingly low $ lease offer they have. I figure he's doing most of the sales.

nsps, you are certainly welcome here. I've been haunting the Tesla Motors Club forum like crazy lately, which is among the reasons I haven't been here much. If I thought I could make a living at full time EV advocacy, any & all EVs, I'd start tomorrow. So if you want to get together, PM us, we can go for a drive, trade test-drives? We sat in the MiEV at the last Plug in America event downtown last fall, but I only test drove a Volt.

Is Josh at TD Murray or Sandy? My girlfriend looked at a 2013 Leaf last weekend in Sandy, but we didn't meet a Josh. She'd certainly like to hear about any amazing lease offers, so feel free to pass it on. :) It sounded like the 2013s have been selling well so far — hopefully it keeps up!

His user name here is ThorEdson. He's at the Murray store, to my knowledge. The Lease deal was shockingly good. Can't remember now if it came from him in an email or what? I'll let you know if I find it, in the meantime you can find him if you want. PM me (or him) & we'll get you in touch. What I do remember is that it was for LEAF owners. (I think there is also a promo going on for owners of any Nissan) Tempting cuz we really love ol' #2407 & a 2013 . . . would be nice.
On another note, my brother & his wife leased one in Richmond CA - yesterday!! In a year they went from 'huh?' to "that's cool, but it wouldn't work for us" to "we're thinking about it" to "we got the white one!!" She says the lease itself will cost less than what she was paying just for gas. Bay Area petrol is $$$, as you are probably aware. So we are thrilled. I told my brother to get on this forum ASAP. ML

Some of the worst air in the nation according to the American Lung Association and KSL.
http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=249379 ... the-nation

Nearly one in three Utah residents stands to have worse health due to high levels of pollution, the report found. That's the proportion of Utah residents who are younger than 18, older than 65 or have asthma or heart disease. About two in five Americans, or about 131.8 million people, dealt with unhealthy levels of pollution sometime during the year.

Hello all!

I'm now a proud owner of a new Nissan Leaf SL in red. Got it from Ken Garff in SLC.
Why did I go 100% electric on my new car? Um, less fuel/maintenance costs mainly, that and red burn days affecting my asthma.
I live in the Sugar house/Liberty park area and it's only 4.5 miles to my work one way, and the rest of my points of destination are well within the range of a full battery.

I didn't purchase a 240v charging station when I bought the car because my house is old Tube and wire and needs some extra TLC and effort to get a power line out to our driveway.
for me the charging station is going to have to endure the Utah weather no garage or carport, any suggestions as to what brand/model has worked for you, and who did the installation?

Hello to you as well. I hope you enjoy driving your LEAF as much I enjoy driving mine.

Did you see the list of Utah Charge Stations. If you find any new ones not on the list post the details in that thread.
