3's SC advantage may not last forever. Other OEMs may be crying uncle.

I think only the likes of VW will give in, personally. The rest are still so full of hubris they won't fall into line until they're really hurting.

It seems more like Nissan is trying to partner with EVGo in order to build out a network. I doubt they will go with SC or CCS in the near future.

They really should make the move to CCS alongside Chademo. The CCS plug is just a little bigger than the standard one.... I think it is ridiculous if they don't have CCS on the 2018, personally. And EVGo? Those guys who can't even make a website to show you how much charging you've done this month until you get a surprise deduction from your checking account?

Never said Nissan is doing the right thing. Just that they are doing their own thing. I would wager that CCS is more likely to happen than SC. And even CCS is highly questionable.

What will the Cd come in at?

Consensus on this forum seems to be leaning to no 60 kWh pack right away. I really hope you're all wrong.

From what the back looks like:

I am going to guess the Cd is possibly as low as 0.26, but could be a bit higher. The major improvement comes from the dropped curved roof; with no flip up. Also, the wheel openings are a lot tighter around the wheels, and they are close to flush.

Personally I'm a little disappointed with an analog speedometer since I like the digital one in the current LEAF. Though the rest of the interior looks cool and I do like the other aspects of the dashboard. Probably not a reason not to get the new model at some point. Now add an option to have a digital speedometer in replace of or in addition to the analog one and I'll shut up lol.

The speedometer is just pixels on the screen. It will have multiple layouts for you to choose from. No one does analog gauges anymore.

Oh, well then that's wonderful to hear! I really like the steering wheel design, looks sporty.

Looking at the recent instrument cluster picture, that sure looks an awful lot like 225.5miles. That could just be the odometer, or the trip meter but I'm hoping it's estimated range remaining.

There's "60 miles" in green up above...

I'm about 99 pct sure it's the cruise speed setting. I own another Nissan and it's the same location where it's shown. This pic might actually be a slightly incorrect render as it really should show "mi/h" as the pic below from the Europe teaser image shows "km/h" in the same label spot.

eGolf fail!
Speaking of eGolf fail, I just learned today that VW charges $18/mo for their app access! (And from what I read, it's about as unreliable as the Leaf app.)

Yikes!

I'm one of those who shelled out $200 to upgrade my modem to 3G last winter. I'm glad that I did, and I'm glad that the service will continue to be free. There's no guarantee it will remain free for the 2018 Leaf, though. Nissan has explicitly reserved the right to start charging for it.

I didn't upgrade my TCU as I found the reliability and functionality sporadic at best. How they ever considered the performance of it acceptable is beyond me.

Looks like that head unit is similar to what is in the Micra -- floating design and two analog knobs. I wonder if this is the S model trim? Wish Leaf 2.0 had knobs on the HVAC, too.

Maybe it's about the local network coverage? I see you are in central Arkansas. How good was your 2G coverage? Here in central New York, it was fine. I'm not saying it was flawless, but acceptable. And the 3G service is better/ more reliable. For a free service (i.e. no subscription), I'm happy I paid to upgrade. But for $18/mo I would cancel in a heartbeat.

I wonder what the 2018 Leaf will be like. Paid subscription? Hopefully they designed in 4G from the start. Would certainly help with any ProPilot updates.
