hi all,
i got my 2018 Leaf on 7/1/2018.
i noticed that the axle behind the driving break pedal is exposed.
Usually, that area could get quite dirty. (dirt, leaves and what-not)
I've never seen any car exposing that part.
is this normal?
thank you,
-James

I've seen plenty of cars with the steering joint exposed. Unless you regularly hose off the underside of your dash, it isn't a problem.

OP: are you talking about the portion inside the firewall, or outside the firewall? If outside, I know of no car that has a fully encapsulated steering column shaft outside of the firewall. Part if not all of that section is exposed.

As far as inside the car, as Leftie mentioned, on many cars the last several inches of so of this shaft tend to be exposed.

Either way, it's nothing to worry about.
