Re: Leaf Spy, unscruplous people can reset the BMS and thus the # of capacity bars and apparently Leaf Spy data (e.g. AHr, SOH and Hx) can be artificially high until the car relearns the battery.

See http://daveinolywa.blogspot.com/2014/11 ... -read.html and AntronX's posts at viewtopic.php?p=489807#p489807, for example. You should look at capacity bars and Leaf Spy data but also cross reference with the previous locations the car resided (via Carfax and/or Autocheck), build month of car and whether the HV (big) battery was changed. Reset cars will be too good to be true.

https://www.facebook.com/notes/seattle- ... 373291032/ may help, as well.

For reference, you can see what prices are like in my area: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/search/cta ... _year=2015. Change the model year range to whatever's ok w/you. viewtopic.php?p=430825#p430825 was my saga of buying a used '13 SV w/premium back in July 2015. viewtopic.php?p=429492#p429492 was a car I passed on and had some info about the auction (http://press.manheim.com/2010-07-27-Man ... into-sales) process.

The 5/2013 built used '13 Leaf I bought had 12 capacity bars at time of purchase and still does but is getting close to losing 1 now (at past 49K miles) per Leaf Spy stats.

Autotrader has a good search engine. Based on the results for 100 mile radius around Eugene, OR - it looks like the average SV price would be around $10.5 K

I would think it's rare that people get a dealer to move down more than $1K, so $9.5K seems about the best deal you'll get. Perhaps a little less for a higher mileage car (I bought a higher mileage 2013 Leaf SV + QC in Seattle WA, with an excellent battery, for $8K in January, 2017).

OP: Can you update your location info via your user name in the upper right > User Control Panel > Profile tab? That way, we don't need to ask in future posts/threads or do sleuthing to deduce it.

To continue with 4/2013+ '13 (and '14?) Leaf batteries vs. model year 2015 "lizard" battery from viewtopic.php?p=509371#p509371, viewtopic.php?t=14095 points to articles from late Aug 2013 indicating the "hot battery" was still in testing.

I also stumbled across a post from an official Nissan corporate employee that I'd either previously missed or forgotten about. :o

During constant testing at battery temperatures of 45 C/113 F, the new battery chemistry is performing similar to the manner that the current battery performs in temperate areas like San Francisco or Seattle.

We expect that, if testing continues on its current path, we will have this new chemistry ready to implement by mid-2014, and it will be compatible with 2011-2013 model vehicles. For those owners who have already had a replacement due to heat-related capacity loss, we intend to provide a transferable coupon for a battery with the updated chemistry to use within five years.

Battery replacement program:

We still expect to be ready to offer this by mid-2014,..

That seems pretty conclusive. We thus need a name for the 4/2013 through 2014 pack. "Pre-Lizard" is both imprecise and unwieldy. I like puns, so "Wolf Pack" or "Dog Pack" is tempting, but I doubt it would catch on...
2013 "Brilliant Silver" SV with Premium Package and no QC, and 2009 Vectrix VX-1 with 18 Leaf cells.

The most offensive, tasteless phrase in use here is "Pulled the trigger." I no longer respond to posts that use it.

That is a fair summary, but be aware that battery resets can fool LeafSpy for a while. In the end, the tried and true way to dispel any doubts about the battery health is to take a long test drive.

My biggest problem is that I'm geographically isolated in Southern Oregon. Looking, touching, smelling, kicking tires, driving, etc. are all hard when the cars aren't close. :(

No way out of that. Either invest the time and travel or take a chance on sight unseen.
