Hiya

I have a 2014 X Leaf (ex JDM) - just wondering if some models did not have TPMS at all?
I was wondering why I couldn't ever get a reading from Leaf Spy on tyre pressures, no matter how far I drove.
Then I noticed that on starting the car (at the 'check emergency lights' on the dash stage) that there wasn't even a warning light for it. No yellow tyre + exclamation mark at all.

Does that likely mean I don't have the option at all?

Sorry for the terrible photo.

Thanks for the help!

Steel wheels, heat pump heater, and no remote access - but that's due in no small part to the Nav unit (Carwings) being Japanese market, so not sure of the original spec with that.
GPS antenna has been disconnected to allow setting clock to NZ time.

I just looked into it, and if you have a Leaf X, then you don't have the lowest "S" trim level. AFAIK you should have TPMS, but I don't know much about Leafs outside of North America...

I took a quick glance at that site. Looks cool.

OP: Unfortunately, MNL tends to be US-centric with a smattering of folks from outside the US. TPMS has been mandated in the US since model year 2008: https://www.safercar.gov/Vehicle-Shoppers/Resources/TPMS-FAQs.

Thanks fellas. Yeah that Sam Holford guide was what sold me on getting one here in NZ!
We get all the used Japanese imports here, and they're starting to gain a lot of momentum as an affordable way of getting into an EV.

Do you guys see a reference to TPMS or similar in the "ECU versions" service screen in Leaf Spy? Because I don't see anything that alludes to it, and I wonder if this is the nail in the coffin for me having the option.

eh; found this when digging in another thread that means this isn't evidence that discounts it just yet:

Let me try this again. The Leaf has no ECU that can SEND commands to the TPMS units in the wheels. Note the use of the word SEND in that sentence.

So yes there is an ECU that receives the stream of data from the TPMS units when the TPMS units in the wheel decide to transmit data. The ECU is the Body Control Module (BCM) and is the ECU that LeafSpy requests the tire pressures from that are shown on screen 4.

The BCM has a single antenna that receives data from the wireless key and the TPMS units in each wheel.
