I keep hearing about the RFQ and Request for Quote and how "the dashboard" opens up so you can do a RFQ. What's the dashborad, first of all, and after I've reserved and gotten a Reservation Number, what do I do next? Latest indication on my Order your Nissan Leaf Summary shows November 2011 as a projected delivery window.

Thanks for your help;

I'm sorry, I seem to be missing something here. When I use that short-cut it takes me to my personalized Nissan Leaf sceen where the "Order your Nissan Leaf: Summary" page is available. The various steps through the process it shows that I have completed everything up to and including the home installation of the charger, which tells me that it is "scheduled" and I'll be contacted later. No place to see a Request for Quote. Thanks again for taking the time to assist me.

I had to call their 800 number to get a waver for the charger install evaluation before I could proceed to the ordering section.

Aha! Evidently the Charger Install Evaluation is a precursor requirement to advance to the next level, which would be the Request for Quote. Reminds me of an early DOS game, Wolfenstein.

I'll post back when I talk to the 800 person about the waiver. I am leaning towards doing the install myself using teh Home Depot Scheider EVLink, which can be had here in Nashville for $699.00. I can pull the permit myself which only costs $22.50. I'll keep you all posted.

One can deal with the AV EVSE "requirement" in one of two ways:

1. Make an appointment for n AV evaluation. Costs $100.

2. Call the Nissan LEAF Customer Service (877-664-2738) and request an "AV Waiver" for your account. Costs $0.

Either one will allow the "Ordering" phase to be enabled (when your time comes).

Then, you will be able to:
1. Select a Preferred Dealer (PD)
2. Request a Quote (RAQ) online from your PD
3. Get a response, and accept it (if you like it), which generates an actual "Order".

NOTE:
Best to negotiate and agree upon a "deal" with your dealer(s) BEFORE RAQ, so that the Quote you get is the one that you are expecting.

This is important and one of the most useful things I learned from MNL members before going through the order process. I contacted a number of dealers to find the one most willing to "deal" before RAQ.

OK, so far so good. I called the LEaF Customer Service line and they "waived" my need for the home inspection. But the guy told me that I had already been approved for a free installation so I might not want to buy a charger at Home Depot yet. I then contacted the local Nissan dealer listed on my order confirmation -- Nissan of Cool Springs (212 Comtide Ct, Franklin, TN 37067 615-790-2500) -- and asked to be connected to the "Leaf Specialist in sales". That got nowhere fast. Then I emailed that same Worth's address, [email protected] and am waiting for an answer to my email. I asked in my email to come by the office and obtain a ProForma invoice prior to going back to my bank. We'll see if I get a response or if it is Car Dealer Business As Usual.

I'll keep you all posted in agonizing detail as this progresses.

Cheers,

Dave
