Nissan Leaf Battery Leased or Sold with Car?

I have read a lot about the Leaf, including an announcement that the battery would be part of the purchase price (at least in the U.S.). However, I recently read on autobloggreen.com that the battery would be leased. Which is correct?

The battery lease option was reported dead in Feb 10.

Good! I would rather own it outright, especially since I mainly need the car for a 44 mile roundtrip commute to work.

Well the battery will be apart of the purchase price because there is no lease system on a battery as this is been banned in the month of February .

Maybe you're confusing it with Renault (Nissan's partner) who WILL be leasing the battery in Europe?
