If you want to get "cheesed" about something, something that affects almost EVERY American is Obama and congress letting the Bush tax cuts expire, this will effectively raise the %35 rate back up to %39.6, increasing your federal taxes. Depending on your income, this "tax hike" (by not renewing the cuts), could be a lot more than the EVSE credit, which only applies to EV owners anyway.

Of course, since even some first reservations in the first 5 states may end up due to supply not be able to purchase the LEAF in December, never mind HI, TX, MD, DC, VA, NC, SC, GA, AL and FL, who were supposed to be "priority" having that credit disallowed if the vehicle is required first, never mind the forgotten 36. That would, IMHO, be apocryphal but it just goes to show how sometimes life just isn't fair.

Personally, I think if enough people write to their Congress people we may end up seeing the credit extended retroactively sometime in late 2011 given how cheesed the general populace will be when told:

Oh, here's this credit, but you can't use it because no car is available in your area, and when the car does become available, we're taking it away.

Come'on, America! Let's get cheesed! :)

Which credit are you mentioning? I believe the Fed credit is good to 2012 and state credits are all different of course. If I am correct about the Fed credit then you can buy up to the end of 2012.

Mitch, you may want to mention the income bracket to be fair, I have no issue with this bogus reduction that had to expire because anything that is unfunded can't be in effect more than 10 years. On normal income those that make over $250K will pay more taxes. There are some people on this forum that can't even get the full credit for the $7500 Leaf credit, I don't think they feel very "cheesed", in fact I bet many would love to be "cheesed". I have had my deductions reduced to zero and paid these rates, I wish I still were because at that time we had a surplus and we were not constantly at the edge of a recession or depression.

The Fed credit for EVSE ($1000 max) is different than the $7,500 max credit for an EV.

Which anyone can get this year if they install one, they don't have to buy an EV this year. I would not be a surprise if this is available again next year as well.

Evdriver, click on the link, every taxpayer is affected, not just the highest ratepayers

The US is "f"'d either way, it's over for us anyway, might as well go down in flames.

No - Obama wants to just extend lower rates to 97% of Americans. It is the otherside who would not give a break to almost EVERY American unless the rich 3% get their lions share.

Republican Lies On The Bush Tax Cuts

Ever since his campaign for president, Barack Obama has vowed not to raise taxes for anyone making $200,000 or less—a pledge I wish he had never made, but one he has nonetheless kept. His 2011 budget explicitly calls for extending nearly all of those tax cuts (except for the highest-earning 3 percent of taxpayers).

That's for PV, I'm talking about the EVSE credit, as I quoted in an earlier post.

I'm not the moderator here... but clearly we are getting off topic here. We all have our opinions on taxes, but this isn't the place to get into a heated political debate. Please take it to the off-topic threads. Thanks.

good point..... now it has it's own thread.

Bush tax cuts sure knocked down the surplus that the nation
had in saner times. The 'RICH" aren't putting their money back
into job creation... at least not in the US. Remember "trickle down"
well for the past eight years it was more like "tinkle on" as all the
corporations make a mass exodus out of America.

sure, notice how we don't hear much about lowering the national debt any longer? It's almost like "it's gone away" (Hardly). The Chinese are not happy, and when they call in their "note", we might have to give them the entire country. Paying them back with inflated dollars just might not work this time.

Live it up boys, the end is near. the 21st century belongs to China, we gave it to them.
