Another Infiniti boss bails out...

Fri Jul 11, 2014 6:08 pm

"On Friday, G.M. made what is perhaps its strongest move yet to bring stability to its Cadillac luxury division, hiring Johan de Nysschen from Nissan’s Infiniti to lead Cadillac in an increasingly crowded luxury car market.

Before joining Nissan in 2012, Mr. de Nysschen built his reputation at the German automaker Volkswagen, where he played a key role in transforming its Audi brand from an also-ran in the United States into a true competitor with BMW and Mercedes-Benz. G.M. has long harbored similar ambitions for Cadillac."

His first executive decision should be to lop $30k off the ELR sticker.

"The Guy That Doesn’t Like EVs Doesn’t Make It As Infiniti Boss – Go Figure. Now Heads To GM?"

This can only help Infinity. The guy sounds like a jerk. Exert from the Insideevs article above:

Was he the one responsible for making Infiniti into a ridiculous nameplate? If he was he should fit right in.

Infiniti may be beyond help... It has never been able to garner any panache or cache and has perennially been a distance also-ran behind Lexus, Acura and the rest of the luxury pack. The bottom line is that they really don't have any competitive product to offer in the segment...

I wonder if he was pushed out and/or clashing w/others at Nissan.

I wonder if Infiniti's going to go back to their previous naming scheme. Their previous scheme actually seemed more logical than the stupid all cars are Q and all SUVs/crossovers are QXes scheme under the de Nysschen reign. I believe it was modeled after the Audi naming scheme.

My guess is- he left because he couldn't meet the targets he was given.

Model 3 : 5/10/2018 to ?

Exactly this had to be the dumbest move ever.

Well, he was certainly effective when he was at VW for Audi... Audi's U.S. and worldwide sales dramatically expanded under his regime...
