As expected, the Bay Area is #1. It will be interesting to see how much and how quickly Atlanta falls back now that the $5k rebate is gone.

Very interesting, thanks. I think the adoption in these markets really is the "canary in a coal mine" for whether people are willing to change their old habits and adopt BEVs.
 
IL also 'lost' their EV (up to) $4K rebate ... still have it (so far) on 50% rebate for EVSE installs; the state left a fair amount of people who bought their EV's in the prior year hanging as they ran out of money ... still have the cheap EV plates (no surcharges yet) but not really 'promoting' per se ... also as noted elsewhere, as of 1/1/2016 if an ICE parks in designated EV charging space they get fined up to $100

Although some don't bother with the designated Illinois 'EL' EV exclusive plates, have seen them outside of Chicago as high as 33xx so that's only about 3,000 new EV registrations since about late 2011 when the LEAF came out (EV conversions and a small handful of Tesla roadsters accounted for the first 280 or so in the series).
