Greedy guzzlers: US gasoline consumption higher than ever
https://www.rt.com/usa/361299-us-gasoline-consumption-high/

August [2016] was the biggest month ever for US gasoline consumption, the latest data shows, with Americans using a staggering 9.7 million barrels per day. That’s more than a gallon per day for every US man, woman and child...

I didn't get a chance to read the Wordpress blog entry, but clicking thru, I went to http://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/pet_cons_wpsup_k_w.htm and http://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=PET&s=WGFUPUS2&f=W and found the assertions might be a little off but not that far off.

Looks like the highest thousand barrels per day consumption I could find was 9,815 thousand barrels (9.815 million barrels) for a week in June 2016. There are a bunch of 9,7xx cases in 2016, 2015, 2007 and 2005. I don't see anything higher than 9,8xx.

The trend via the graph is definitely not going in a good direction for us. :(
