In the U.S., beginning with the 2019 MY.
BMW currently sells five plug-in hybrid models in the U.S. Those include the 3-Series, 5-Series, 7-Series sedans, the X5 SUV, and the i8 coupe. . . .
Guy [I have lots of experience designing/selling off-grid AE systems, some using EVs but don't own one. Local trips are by foot, bike and/or rapid transit].

This is a good step forward. I understand that over the last couple decades, diesels have been strong sellers in Europe. Switching new car supply from diesel to PHEV should help quite a bit in transitioning to cleaner options. Also interesting to hear they have an i3 prototype with 3x the battery capacity.

Meanwhile, here in the U.S., Ford is dropping cars in favor of less efficient SUVs. :(
