Here is an interesting paragraph at slashdot opening the viewpoint that EV subsidies are a a handout for the rich. Two of the links in the paragraph are worthwhile (as well as the comments): a Slate article containing that actual argument, and the other link pointing to a discussion of current Li battery attributes and estimates of a future cost trajectory:
