Is it fly by wire or direct like normal cars. I hear reports of light feeling not sure what they mean. Anyone know.

I believe the steering is mechanical (for safety), with an electric power assist.

It is definitely not fly by wire. It is an "EPS", Electric Power Steering system. There remains a mechanical connection to the steering wheel, but electric motors assist the steering. In 'fly by wire', it would all be electronic, with no mechanical connections.
