Is there a resource for what these different kinds of chargers entail? So far I've figured out:

Blink has a membership that reduces the cost from $2.00 for the base guest rate down to $1.50 for a free membership and $1.00 for the plus membership that has a $30/yr. fee but is free through the rest of 2013. They'll mail you a membership card after signup.

ChargePoint requires a $5.00 fee to obtain a membership card and if you put a $25.00 balance and credit card on file they'll give you your first two charges for free. Unsure of their rates. Was poking around the Sea World chargers today (didn't take the Leaf) and it seemed like it would only accept credit cards that had the tap to pay feature... ? Didn't see a slot card reader. Rates weren't published but they're listed here as free. Didn't seem like it was free to me but that was the first one I've looked at.

Any others I should know about?

For those who want to use free chargepoint only, you can get a free chargepoint card here: http://www.chargepoint.com/leaf/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Save yourself the $5 fee.

Anyone have a hook-up/recommendation on window tinting?

I've been using the same guy forever, but the last few times he's been out of hand on the tint quotes. Looking for someone who does quality work, uses quality tint, but isn't charging astronomical rates. My guy would prob quote me $350 for the Leaf with 9 windows. Anyone have a good job done recently for less than that in San Diego?

Also, getting my 2013 Leaf S driver side window/door lock switch panel relpaced under warranty as it won't stay snapped into the door panel. Actually, it was like that when I got the car a couple weeks ago, I just didn't notice it until I got home from the dealer. =(

Hey all! I just bought my 2013 SV (Slate) on Sunday, and wanted to say hello. It's been fun driving around San Diego with it and taking note of all the charging stations. I like by the zoo, and they even have a station there, it's nice!

Also I'd second the tint question, I'd love to know of someone around here who has had that done and had a good experience(quality/price).

Grats! I purchased my 2011 Red Leaf back in August of this year and truly love it. Commutes back and forth from Imperial Beach area to El Cajon with no problem, usually ending with 30 miles average at home. I have a friend at work that does quality work and has been tinting my cars with no problem, my 2001 Honda Civic still has them on and still look great. I will get a hold of him and see if he will allow me to post his info on here. He lives in the Chula Vista area not far from Olympic Blvd and the 805.

I use the Plug Share or PlugShare App to look around and find all Charging stations around. Plug Share seems to have the most people on it, with people Check-in's, Pictures and current Activity. It also shows the L2 and DCQC Stations in different colors. Check out Blink and ChargePoint for charge stations, get their Key Cards incase you want to charge somewhere. EvGo is a newer Charging station company here in Fashion Valley but they have a monthly account. If you work in Fashion Valley that might work for you.

Other Apps I use are Green Charge, Leaf Link, Charge Map and SemaConnect (Walgreens) and Nissan Leaf.

I used Mr. Tint in Escondido.

About $400 for ceramic coating.

Are there any Leaf gatherings in central/south San Diego? Temecula is quite a way for those of us that live south of the I-8. How often do we try to have a meet & greet?

I see this thread has gotten a bit stale. Here's a shot in the arm! ;-)

Leslie and I just stopped in at Summers Past Farms in Flinn Springs on our Sunday drive/errand running and talked to the owner for a bit. I found out after we'd already strolled around the grounds for an hour or so drinking our iced mochas and picking out some plants that he had 110V outlets in the front parking lot and two phases of 110V run to the back/overflow parking. If you have the proper adapter/combiner (and have already modded your trickle charger with the EVSE upgrade), you could conceivably charge at 220VAC.

We chatted about electric cars and hydroponics, etc. for a bit and he told me he was getting a few estimates this coming week to put in a 9kW solar system on his roof. He's going to inquire with the contractors about adding in a solar powered EV charging station in the bid. I've added the 110VAC charging spot to the PlugShare site already and plugged in for a bit as we were leaving to load it up to the Nissan Carwings database (eventually). He's also thinking of adding signage to one of the front spots for EV's!

There's really no charging of ANY sort within miles of this spot and if you've never been there, you can easily spend a few hours strolling around the gift shop, the nursery, the gardens and beautiful grounds. The addition of the coffee and snack/pastry stand was BRILLIANT, IMHO and it makes for a beautiful little oasis in the eastern back country. Now you can extend your trip eastward into the mountains a bit further as well. Alpine and Viejas Casino/Outlets are now within more convenient reach. :p

I'm thinking that after the solar system goes in we should have one of the local EV Owners club meetings out there for something different! The trip back down the hill is basically free to as far as El Cajon! ;-)

The very nice gentleman I spoke to was named Marshall, and here's their info:

More SDG&E related news out today:

SDG&E To Install Thousands Of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
- Pilot program authorizes 3,500 electric vehicle chargers at 350 sites

- Expands electric vehicle and charging access for businesses, multi-family communities and underserved neighborhoods

- Residents can charge on renewable energy, drive on sunshine

I wonder if any QC stations will be included with this build-out? Targeting businesses and multi-family communities seems like a great idea - the lack of charging at many of these locations prevents many people from being able to effectively use plug-in vehicles.

There's also the fact that NEM 2.0 will not significantly affect net metering, but I'll pick up that discussion in the SDG&E, Solar, Net Metering, and Time of Use 2 (TOU2) thread.
