"All-electric cars may pollute more than gas-powered cars ..."

http://www.sltrib.com/news/1951784-155/story.html

Of course they fail to mention the entire fueling aspect of pollutants for gas powered cars (oil drilling, fracking, refining, transporting gasoline, etc., etc.) versus using the electric grid so STILL an incomplete picture for 'real' comparison. More and more municipalities are actually closing the really old power plants that used the worse type of coal that pollutes the most and converting to wind, natural gas, etc. but failed to mention that as well. Hopefully we'll get some pundits (eventually) that take a closer look at the bigger picture but as always, each region will be different and I've already seen more informed info than this study ... it's unfortunate that some would assume this is the whole picture.

Doesn't mention that the study was from 2011.

Too bad the headline wasn't: "Electricity from coal is bad! - Renewable powered EVs are great!"

No, instead, we get this:

"It’s kind of hard to beat gasoline" for public and environmental health, said study co-author Julian Marshall, an engineering professor at the University of Minnesota. "A lot of the technologies that we think of as being clean ... are not better than gasoline."

Excuse me, while I refill my gasoline powered phone.

It seems like the article is at conflict with the EPA posted numbers, at least for CO2 emissions - http://www.epa.gov/cleanenergy/energy-resources/refs.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
