Hi there
I live in Florida and although Solar City aren't fully operational here yet but via a friend's referral we had a visit from a rep and are interested in what they're offering (they estimate we could get 85-90% of our current energy use with approx a $20 power bill to make up the difference).

It's a zero down unsecured loan essentially, over 20 years with a 20 year warranty on the equipment & a fixed flat fee to remove if moving house etc.

It seems like a good deal although I haven't shopped around for solar and have nothing to compare them to...

Does anyone have negative or positive experiences with Solar City? As I said, they're new to the area (our friend who referred us hasn't had the install yet).

Excellent and very professional contractor in my experience in CA. Probably not the low cost supplier but they do an excellent job with the install and handling all the association and city permits. I bought mine outright. If you have TOU rates I would go a little smaller on the size.

You will likely do better financially if you buy your own system and use a home equity loan.
That seems to be the consensus. Though around here leasing is not even a real option since the state production incentives require you to own the system (can finance them of course).
