For decades, the joke on the Left had been that the US Government was the diplomatic and military arms of Exxon-Mobil. Now we have to come up with a new joke.

Yes, here is another left wing web site with the same "fake news":

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/12/10/carbon-tax-climate-trade-education-policy-concerns-arise-with-trumps-likely-secretary-of-state-selection-tillerson/

Please note that I have never visited that web site and never will again. I only went there to debunk your "fake news from NBC".

Just like the Pruitt news ?

It is really sad that the door opened to clean, national energy with a revitalized economy has turned into this nightmare.

That looks like an interesting web site, thanks for the link, I bookmarked it. They seem to think the Tillerson appointment is happening. I wonder why Trump would pick a left wing extremist like that.

While I can see that a lot of the concern expressed in this thread is genuine, I also cannot help being amused by the rampant panic over events that haven't happened yet, and may never happen.
It reminds me of the Chicken Little story I heard in kindergarten: "The sky is falling, the sky is falling!"
Take a deep breath, step back, and wait for something bad to actually happen. Then open up.

There was a guy on CNBC yesterday saying that environmental policy and energy policy haven't been coordinated, and expects Trump to fix that. Of course if the fix is to disregard environmental issues that would be bad :)

This topic was started after Trump was elected and started choosing his Cabinet, and most of what he has done has been in line with what the liberals and Left fear. I think that you're confusing concern about the near future based on what's happening right now with panicking over nothing concrete. Waiting until something happens and only then worrying about it usually results in more damage that could have been at least reduced. Or, to put it another way, you can't keep the horses in unless you close the barn door before they leave.

Let me put this in a context that might help you:

Clinton won the election, and declares that Donald Duck will head the Dept of Defense and Goofy will be Sec of State. Will you just kick back and say to yourself "nothing has happened yet" ?

That's what we did when Obama was elected.

Unfortunately things did happen.

I'd never had any interest nor even heard of Breitbart "News" until this campaign.

There have been numerous compilations of some of its outrageous headlines and stories like http://mediamatters.org/blog/2016/08/17/breitbart-news-worst-headlines/212467 (never heard of this site until now) and http://money.cnn.com/2016/11/14/media/breitbart-incendiary-headlines/.

I'd verified numerous ones of these before. Here are some links:

Steve Bannon, executive chairman of Breitbart "News" was Trump's campaign "CEO" and now Trump's picked him to be "chief strategist" and "senior counselor".

Hopefully not: we have come a long way since the '70s. Anyone old enough to remember the denuded slopes and dangerously polluted rivers of that era cannot be anything but amazed at the progress we have made since then.
I continue to put my trust (at the moment) in Trump's ability as a businessman: there is no long range profit in squandering resources. Now that he is (will be) in charge of everything, he must take the long range view, especially as he genuinely loves America.

I know Trump genuinely loves Trump. This might correct some of his other failings when it becomes clear that most people will hate him and curse his name, not only now but far into the future. On the other hand, maybe not. See Trump University and various other scams.

+1. our worst fears unfortunately weren't nearly as bad as reality

Which of his four bankruptcies (or is it five) finally convinced you ? Or was it Trump University ?

Abraham Lincoln went bankrupt a few times before he was elected president, and he was a darn good leader in a time of crisis.
Trump is worth billions today; the bankruptcies were yesterday. The man knows business, and "the business of America is business".

Yep rule 1 risk other people's money
Rule 2 the business failed, you didn't and you still collect your wage.

Prior to 1975 Trump would have been considered a total failure and a laughing stock for allowing any of his ventures to fail, odd how what was once considered total failure is now the way to success

Trump has gone from enormous business ventures that failed (but that still paid him well, at the expense of the investors) to making large amounts of money simply by selling his name. I'm not sure how this approach is going to translate to improving the lives of most Americans.
