Thank you guys for sharing your experiences. My 2013 Leaf S with Charger package is nearing the end of lease (End of April 2017).
Residual 16858.40. Monthly payment is 185 for 15K miles per year. I am close to 50K miles. Lost first bar at 43K. My original lease was 2 years. I have already extended twice. Has anyone seen 5th year lease extension? Is it worth buying? What price makes sense?

I think you can go to any dealer, but your car may have to be there so they can verify the odometer reading. Maybe this varies by state law.

You can go to any. I leased my car in CO originally. Bought out the lease in OH. I believe they do have to verify the mileage for dmv paperwork as it is just like buying any other car.

You have to calculate if it makes sense for you to buy it out. I would think something less than 6k maybe even 5k. I effectively paid $7,750 for my 13sl with 27k on it if you subtract the payments I no longer have to make. If that helps you gauge it any.

Extended my lease twice already. Now ending in May '17. So, 5 months (actually jut 4) before I have to decide to do something.

- buy out (no way)

So I'm left with
1. Get Bolt for 2 years and transfer lease when I get Model 3
2. Get Bolt for 2 years and get Model 3 after the lease ends
3. Need to eventually replace my wife's old CUV. So I can get Pacifica or Outlander PHEV (if that comes out) and wait out for the BEV till Model 3 comes

Back in 2010 didn't expect to have just these choices in 2017. Sad !

Leasing a Bolt is an EXTREMELY expensive option. Chevy is pocketing most of the fed tax credit. FYI; Bolt lease page does not have 2 year options

Hi guys,

I just scratched my passenger door pretty badly (very mad at myself!):
http://imgur.com/a/jH1fy

I have at least 6 months before returning it so I have time to think about it.

Any suggestions wrt if I should
(1) Fix it myself (i.e., bring it to non-Nissan shop)?
(2) Do not do anything and just wait until I hear a quote from Nissan (any idea on how much it might cost me?)
(3) Do not do anything but go for another lease or extension to negotiate this issue (I would be in a weak position though which I dislike).

Thanks!

The scratch has nothing to do with a lease extension. Get an estimate from a body shop, making sure they know it's for a lease return. Then, if NMAC wants to charge you more than the estimate, get it fixed. If you'll be buying or leasing another Nissan, they will forgive up to $500 in damage.

Thank you LeftieBiker!

I just read somewhere that they tend to forgive more if you go for extension or new deal. This sounds like plan!

I don't think that a lease extension gets you any damage forgiveness (although it would be nice for me if they did!). Only buying or leasing another Nissan does that, AFAIK.

+1 yeah, they make it VERY attractive to get another LEAF. with the extended battery capacity warranty and extra kwh, its tough.

Lease end fee; $395 waived
up to $500 in excessive wear and damage
$1000 loyalty cash.

hard to pass up...

Hey folks,

Just thought I would post up what I was offered, but ultimately declined in favor of an attractive offer on a Spark EV.

I have a 2012 SL on a 24 month lease, with 2 extensions. I put $2000 down, and had payments of $127/m for what ended up being 48 months. The nut of all this was that I had a residual of around $19000, HA! After NMAC decided to stop talking in October, I spoke with a Leaf Specialist at a local Maryland dealer who ended up offering an all in buy out of $7100 which he claimed included all Maryland translation and registration fees. I ultimately did not press him for a detailed breakdown, because I went in another direction.
If I had not found the rebate rich deal on a Chevy Spark EV, I would have pulled the trigger on this proposed buy out. I have 10 bars left and 47,000 miles. I am sure feeling the cold weather range right now, and figure I must be due for the third bar dropping any day now.

I'll be driving the wheels off for the next 3 weeks. I have about 1,250 of miles left on the lease and a set of tires with about 7k miles on them.

The Spark EV is safely ensconced in the garage until Christmas. It is a fine car, still getting used to the matchbox size though. With 140hp, 320.ft/lbs of torque and a zero to sixty of around 7.5 seconds it is very very zippy compared to the Leaf.

On the Spark EV (LT2 with CCS fast charging), I was able to pull a 39 month lease with zero down, and 38 payments of $157/m. Buy out will be $10,300. With a temperature conditioned battery and fewer degradation concerns I have much or faith that this car will earn the buy out at the end of the process.

Turned her in with 47332 miles on Dec23rd as planned. It was tough as she was a good car. Enjoying my new car range with the 2016 Spark though. Sparkie is really zippy.

I e-mailed all the local dealers about a buyout of my 2015 SV expiring this month. Offers varied greatly, but I took one for $9000, more than $7300 off my reserve of $16,326. I had to pay a $699 processing fee and finance.

Looks pretty well dented. I suspect you will be best off having it repaired. You have time so you can get competing quotes. Are you considering an insurance claim?

Yes, and add in a large discount on remaining 30 kWh 2016s. It gets very attractive!

I have a lease on a 2014 that's ending in April 2017.

I tried calling a few Nissan dealerships to buy out the lease and they told me there's no discounts ($144xx + fees) They told me the discounts are only available on the 2013 model. Is that true?

Not sure about it being true only for a specific year (I would think that it's not), but I will say that my experience with getting dealers to negotiate a buyout price on our 2012 has been unsuccessful so far.

After contacting the 4 dealers in my surrounding area, the only number they seem willing to talk about is the lease residual price. I'm thinking it's going to be a bit of a slog to get them "educated" about their ability to negotiate the buyout, but I'm still hopeful of getting one since others here report being successful.

Good Luck to you, and to us all!
