Hello, this is my first post and tried searching the answer to this question but I haven't been able to yet...the upside is I read several useful posts :). I just bought a 14' Leaf and I read that even though the lizard battery was official for 15, that some 13s and 14s had it. Sorry if it is a dumb question and I think I should have a better chance with my battery longevity with it being after 4/13, but I was wondering if there was any way possible to check if the car already has the lizard battery. The carfax shows no battery service history. Thank you in advance for any help.

Yes. http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=17168 was the official and only announcement I'm aware of.

Wishful thinking.

Maybe, but likely also wishful thinking.

As equipped from the factory? We know of no known way.

Nissan has made references numerous times to a "hot battery" that presumably is one and the same as the "lizard battery". http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=355668#p355668 and http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=330249#p330249 are example references. I don't have a comprehensive list.

I'd Google and Bing/Yahoo for:

The best indications of the durability of the battery pack in your car are the Hx and SOH and AHr readings now. If they are good, then the pack is doing fine in your climate. That's the most important thing.

Nope. There have always been incremental changes to the chemistry and many will claim that the 2014 has it but the official word is it started in 2015 so no you don't have it.

Your is better than the 2011's and better than the 2013's but its my guess that there are several versions with minor tweaks that led to the ultimate "Lizard" pack and those tweaks continue today.

That doesn't make a lot of sense. In one sentence you take the "official word" as gospel, then in another you use your own speculation as the basis for advice. The truth is that we just don't know if that car has the same chemistry as a 2015, or not.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the answers! My first electric and first new car in 10 years so it will be a learning experience figuring everything out with this leaf, I'm excited. Thanks again.
