I accepted a job offer in Southern California and need advice on what to do with my leased 2015 LEAF currently registered in GA.

Leasing facts:
- Leased June 2015, 36k miles, 36 months
- ODO 24k
- Residual is $10,240 with current buyout at $12,366.03 good thru mid-Sept

I'm planning on having my car shipped and have ruled out giving up my lease early. My move date is Sept 7, 2017.

Scenarios:
1. Register in CA then let the lease run its term - baseline scenario
2. Register in CA then buy - any state tax credits for buying leased vehicles?
3. Buy in GA then register in CA
Advantage #1) Eliminate need for NMAC to send GA title to CA for registration
Advantage #2) Sales tax is lower in GA

Advice appreciated.

#2 - not that I'm aware of. CVRP (https://cleanvehiclerebate.org/eng/eligibility-guidelines) is only on new purchases and leases.

#3: I'd have to do digging which I have no time for, but that case may complicate things and may/may not save on sales tax. See https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/?1dmy&urile=wcm:path:/dmv_content_en/dmv/vr/checklists/outofstate and https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/pubs/brochures/howto/htvr9, in particular https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/portal/feecalculatorweb/index.

I'd go with #3, since the GA sales tax is lower than the CA one. Also, the CA tax credit applies to new cars only. But the economics is flipped if NMAC doesn't offer you an incentive to buy out your lease now vs. later.
