I did it myself.

If i ever manage to somehow get one of these (bit expensive for me sadly) would you be willing to assist with an install?

The "tutorial" info posted in the thread will give you step by step instructions.
If you have the qualifications to do this, the info we provided will keep you from making the mistakes we made in learning.

This was really labor intensive; so, with respect, no thanks.
Once was enough.

When we did this, there was no larger on-board charger available.
Now you can just get a Leaf with a 6.6 charger.
That would be the best route to take.

Yeah thats what i thought. Alas inowe more than the car is worth so kinda stuck for a few years more.

My only real complaint about the car is the slow charge rate. Otherwise no complaints.

I will admit KW's is the nicest of the group! Even with my LQ units, his still looks pretty sweet.!

This is a very well designed setup now! nice having some decent charging power for the Leaf's! ;)

Can anyone assist me with a CAD file or detailed design for the adapter plate between the 2012 inverter and the Brusa charger documented in this thread. I'm in the process of doing this mod.
Regards
Greg

My Leaf is going bye bye.. but I'm selling the complete Brusa system separately. This would be a COMPLETE turnkey install for 11 & 12's.

If anybody is interested PM me. And yes it's the liquid cooled unit/setup (P.S. all Leafs have the cooling right in front).

Thanks!

I should probably add since I'm getting PM's and emails all of a sudden.. This will include GregH's rare LeafXL unit that was programmed for the Brusa. It's designed to control any power you want independently of the Leaf so you can ramp the power separately (the LeafDD doesn't do this).. and it's a BIG screen! It shows you all the data on the Leaf.

There's only a few of these devices.. and I have one in the Leaf.. 1 in the Rav ;) Whoever is getting this is getting something special.. I have it in a nice 3d printed case I made in Solidworks.

Well after several weeks work we managed to get my 2012 LEAF with it's Brusa upgrade working in Auto mode yesterday. 16 amps via the Brusa and 10amps via the OEM J1772 inlet (240 volts).
Next step is to program more than 2 stages in the auto charging profile, then set it to charge via CANBUS.
I would post some pictures but I can't work out how.

Even if it might be a little bit off topic: Is it possible and does anyone have experience to install Brusa chargers in the 30 kWh models?
The reason I ask is that I have been driving around with 2 Brusa chargers in our 2012 Leaf in Norway for 1.5 years now, and needless to say I am quite happy with the charging speed (I make use of 3 phase power available here in Europe). The battery is still quite ok. After all these years and soon 80000 miles it still charges to around 19 kWh according to LeafSpy and the SOH and SOX have been around 90% for quite a while now. However, it sometimes would really save some time to be able to drive a little bit farther than the current battery ever allowed for. Since I can´t switch the battery I wonder if someone has tried to install Brusas to a 30 kWh Leaf. Those begin to be available at reasonable prices and since I don´t care about the warranty I could as well buy used ...

Good job on getting this done! Post some pics when you have a chance!

Use this place...

I by the way have a complete watercooled Brusa setup that just came off a 2012 (or 2011) with all the plate, gasket, spacers, bolts. tubes (plumbs right in to the stock cooling system) and fully CAN controlled. Get a full 7.2kw to your Leaf! or 9.6kw to your 2013 and up (need your own plate!)

Ready to bolt in. I'm asking $1400. If you are in the SoCal area, bring your car up and I'll install it for you for a cheap price (like lunch ;) )

BTW.. If you have another DIY project... The Brusa is universal.
