Here's why I like battery leasing, via GCR:
Unlike when people own their car and battery, this gives car companies (or battery suppliers) an economic incentive to develop and offer upgrades. The car companies would still prefer to sell you a whole new car, but at least they get some of the money from people who can't/aren't willing to buy a whole new battery, and who in any case won't accept a car that has to be thrown away after a few years of use because it no longer meets their needs, or will be obsolete within the same time frame.
