How To Route Cable From Front Dashcam to Rear Dash Camera

Mon Feb 12, 2018 5:04 pm

Front dash cam is stuck to the windshield top left. And the rear camera is in the center top of the hatch window. They're connected by a cable. The main unit is the front unit, and the rear camera is a satellite connection with a cable to the main unit.

Any advice? Cable is long enough to go along top/side of  windshield, under door sill panels and to top of hatch.

I would really like to just run it over head, above roof liner.

I installed a Blackvue dashcam in my Leaf.

I don't recall it being too difficult. I ran it up high, tucking it under the headliner. I may have had to remove a piece of trim (partially) when I got to the right-rear c-pillar. At that point, I removed some trim on the hatchback as well. I ran the wire through the same grommet used by all of the other electrical connections to the hatch.

The Leaf is great to run cables.... I ran a cable from the front to the rear window for a rear-facing "dashcam", and you need NO TOOLS.

Start the wiring under the dash. I like going along the passenger side. Carefully push the cable where the weather stripping goes up the front right pillar of the windshield. After that, pull off the door-side weather stripping, and insert the cable all the way to the back "inside" the head liner.

When you reach the back window, there is a round "button" in the center of the headliner that you can remove and pull out the cable through the hole to connect to the dash cam (in the back center by the rear window). I used Velcro to attach the dash cam to the roof liner, and can remove it as necessary.

good luch
