Charging to 9 bars

The car will always charge to 12 bars.
If you mean the battery capacity bars are at 9/12, then about 30 - 35% of capacity is gone.
That is good for about 60 miles range in good weather, 40 miles in the winter if the entire battery is depleted.

Thanks for the prompt reply

60 miles should be enough

I read replacement varies from 5k to 8k depending on semi or full battery

Getting it under 9k$ ..will update if I get it tomorrow

Don't count on 60 miles in warm weather! My real world, non-white-knuckle range on a 2013 SV with heatpump was about 65 miles in Summer - with 12 bars, one almost gone. If you need more than 40 miles of range in normal driving, keep looking. Not just for the above reason, but because a 2012 Leaf battery will both continue to degrade rapidly, and will have less range in Summer and Winter than a (post March build) 2013+ Leaf.

Can you update your location info via your user name in the upper right > User Control Panel > Profile tab? That way, we don't need to ask in future posts/threads or do sleuthing to deduce it.

What are your daily driving needs in terms of miles? How much city vs. highway? Will you have the ability to charge at your work/destinations?

Originally, the replacement price was at http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=17168. There are claims it has gone up significantly: http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=25882. I've also seen refutations.

Keep in mind the battery will keep degrading, and if it's the original battery, it's frankly crap, esp. in hotter climates.

Unless your range needs are really modest, I'd pass.

Also, unsure why you decided to pick this thread. It seems like Nissan's stopped offering out of warranty assistance. The car's not down to 8 bars and almost certainly outside capacity warranty now. Heck, even my 5/2013 built used '13 Leaf passed the 5 year (since original in-service date) mark a few weeks ago.

I recently tried to sell my 10/2013 LEAF with 12/12 battery health, back-up camera and QuickCharge port for $9k.
After one month and one offer for $7k I gave up.

I'm in bay area
2012 SV with nav and rear view cam
42.6k
2 New tires and brakes
$7.5k before TTL

2013 SV (no cam no nav) is for $500 more..can check battery level tomorrow

Why would it need new brakes? Brakes being replaced at that point is extremely rare (e.g. person has to go on extended downhill grades, esp. starting from the top of a hill at full charge). If they did start at the top of the hill with a full charge, they likely didn't care about the battery either (e.g. didn't limit it to 80% or cut it off somewhere before 100%).

I'm still on my original brakes past 56K miles. I don't think you'll find many Leafers here who needed new brakes even at the 70 or 80K mile mark.

As for 2013 SV "no nav", that' s impossible. ALL '11 to '17 SV and SL trim have nav system. You can take a look at the Specs tab of http://nissannews.com/en-US/nissan/usa/presskits/us-2013-nissan-leaf-press-kit to see the differences between '13 trim levels. The S trim (started with '13 model year) has no nav.

I'm still not sure why you're posting in this thread and I'm unclear if you know what you're getting yourself into.

Maybe you should start a new thread for purchase advice and answer my questions? Leaf may be unsuitable for you, or it might be just fine.

"Bay Area" means nothing. For those who don't live in the SF Bay Area, here's an example of variation in climate:

http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=464260#p464260

Remember, the EPA range rating on the '11 and '12 Leafs were 73 miles on a new battery, until the battery's dead. Let's assume this 9 bar car will be an 8 bar car soon and assume that means 30% capacity loss. 73 * 0.7 = 51.1 miles. At those 8 bars, you might be able to make it 51 or 52 miles at 60 mph w/no heater and no AC use on dry pavement w/the car coming to a stop at the end. See 8 bar range chart at http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=4295. Go any faster, and your range will be even less.

Also, to be clear, the capacity bars are the thinnest bars all the way on the right. http://www.electricvehiclewiki.com/File:Scott_3_bars_s.jpg is an example of a fully charged 3 bar loser. http://www.electricvehiclewiki.com/Battery#Battery_Capacity_Behavior is from a table in the '11 service manual. It was removed later model years' service manuals for an unknown reason. Not sure if it ever returned.
