The problem has to be me. Every one I’ve tried has numerous successful check ins on plugshare.com. Charges fine at home though I’ve only ever used the trickle charger and these public ones are all level 2 but the dealer must have a level 2 right, and I know they’ve charged it there. I’ve used a chademo with my all access card one time and that worked fine. At one of the locations I called in to the store that ran it and asked if it had to be activated or something. Maybe they didn’t know for sure but they said they thought you just plug it in and it should work. I plug it in and it looks like it’s going to work, the blue lights on the dash start indicating charging for about a second but then there is a click in the charger and the little red error light comes on. Any help would be appreciated. I’m doing fine getting around as much as I need and want to without these stations but I would enjoy being able to use them.

I’ve tried all of these.

There's your problem. They're from Eaton.

My only personal experience w/Eaton level 2 EVSEs on my '13 Leaf (I don't have an '18) is at http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=521945#p521945. I wouldn't be surprised if an '18 doesn't work on those 3 Eatons at Aloft hotel in Cupertino, CA.

You might want to edit your OP if all of the L2's that don't work for you are from Eaton. We have a ton of Chargepoint CT4000 series (https://www.chargepoint.com/products/commercial/ct4000/) at my work and I've seen '18 Leafs charging on those w/no problem. I've also seen '18 Leafs charge successfully on these old Clipper Creek units at https://www.plugshare.com/location/7989.

If Eaton hasn't changed their stance on non-support of their EVSEs (I tend to think it'll be unchanged), you may want to formally contact Nissan (https://www.nissanusa.com/contact-us.html, maybe the EV Customer Support Team; NOT a dealer) and let them know. It may not do anything for now, but if enough people complain, perhaps Nissan can actually issue a fix (probably firmware update) to get them working. Make sure they open a ticket and have the call/contact in their logs.

Admittedly, the chances of a fix are remote and judging by how slowly some other fixes have been coming, it may take a LONG time, if ever.

If all that's worked for you are the dealer's EVSE and your trickle charge unit, I'd find a way to test it on a few more types. It's very unlikely on such a new car, but there's a failure mode (bad diode) of the on board charger that would act exactly like your car is now, working only on Nissan charging equipment. I think it's more likely there's an incompatibility with the Eaton charger, but find a different model someplace and try your car to be sure.

I've posted before that the 2018 LEAF and the Eatons seem to be incompatible based upon what we've observed here at work:
http://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=20651&p=535283#p535283
http://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=25488&p=522192#p522192
Since Eaton is out of the EVSE business, these units are unsupported and won't get updated.

I just posted exactly that immediately before you. The 2018 is incompatible with the Eaton.

I really wish a mod would fix the title of this thread. ("free public chargers" => "some Eaton EVSEs").

Do you have a Timer in “on” position, take it off if so.
It would only charge on your timer settings no matter where you are and not respond to a charging station.
