Lizard Pack Will Hold Up IF Your Driving Patterns Support It

Plenty of EVs that don't have degradation issues. Nissan just really needs to go with active temperature management like all the low-degrading EV manufacturers. Not a big worry for me, Tesla Model 3, here I come :D my own pack has held up extremely well but Ohio is a rather mild climate.

Are you planning to reserve Tesla Model 3 ?

I'm pretty confused, there's such a tiny difference in price between a Leaf with QC and a Model 3. It seems pretty hard to find a Leaf without QC on a lot. The biggest difference of course being still having to use a secondary vehicle, car rentals, or an inefficient non-EV secondary vehicle for...

    Totally done with public charging.

This isn't an EV problem. Tesla doesn't have this issue and they actually have cars capable of long-distance road trips, and they are #2 on total cars in the US. How viable would gas stations be if there was only one pump per station? In peak hours, long distance travel, and holidays it...

    Emergency brake use

I also only set it when on inclines. If the car's going to move while parked on level ground, the emergency brake isn't going to do anything to save the day. The parking brake != leaving the car in neutral. On level ground it'll only move if the ground no longer becomes level, or if someone is...

What do Current EVs use for thermal management on traction batteries?

The smart ED is liquid cooled like Tesla, and I do believe the Volt is as well.

    Hydrogen and FCEVs discussion thread

I'm very confused because of several points. You're comparing a $40k car with a $75k+ car, for one. If you're really interested in cost savings, you could compare my Leaf to a similar size and functionality of ICE. On my lease, the two don't even compare because from day1 I'm in the money from...

    Central Ohio

The OSU Kinnear lvl3 station is free, but it was down the only time I went and from comments seem to be down often. The lvl2s there work great though. No charge for parking. The Buckeye Nissan (270 / Fishinger Rd exit) is free and as far as I know accessible 24/7 for lvl3 charging. I leased my...

    Toyota Mirai Fuel Cell

How they came to that mpge rating, I'll never know. The costs of hydrogen fill-ups are well-documented, and unless Toyota has tripled the efficiency of the last FC vehicle created it's still going to cost more than a gasser to drive, once that convenient fuel subsidy is lifted. I'd be convinced...

Nissan Announces Up To $7,000 Credit For Buying Your Leased

It sounds like this new residual is built into new leases. My 2015 S with quick charge was $2400 down, $242 a month on the lease, and $10500 on the residual after 3 years / 12k annual miles. I'd still consider it a pretty great deal. Brand new car, Lizard battery, ~9k in total lease payments...

Increasing Nissan Leaf Range with mini battery trailer

There's a few issues with that. A Leaf won't run with a charger hooked up. It's also pretty dangerous even if it was possible, as the heat would catastrophically eat away at your battery (charge + discharge = massive degradation), even assuming it would run at those temperatures. The equipment...

Leaf Price / Discount discussion thread

I was able to get $2399 down + $242 a month for 12k miles, 3 year lease including tax, on an S with quick charge. From my research this was quite a good deal for Ohio. The typical price for this car was over $330 after tax on a similar lease when I checked a few months back.

ChargePoint -- is charging for time typical?

I hope if my work ever does install charging stations, that they just do a bank of lvl1 chargers with no restrictions and no charge. I hate being forced to move, an 8 hour workday is still a good amount of trickle charging, and the low cost will help as more and more EVs come to fruition. Also...

The official "I got my Leaf" thread

I took the plunge. Although I've been pretty critical of the Leaf, I can't beat the fact that A) I can actually buy one off a lot, and B) There's a free chademo right near work, and C) The local dealer had a pretty awesome lease deal for me ($2399 down $243 a month after tax for a quick charge...

    CPO Warranty on Leaf--Battery?

I'm guessing the answer is no, but does anyone know if the 7 year / 100k mile Certified Pre-Owned Nissan program includes the same protections for capacity on the traction battery as the original warranty?

    Official Tesla Model 3 thread

While I don't have hard numbers (other than what's publicly available on Tesla Motor Club), I think it's generally accepted that TMS gives you back more charge than it takes in power to run it in extreme conditions and is negligible in good conditions. That's part of the reason why Teslas for...
