Update: after further diagnosis I have determined that right after the doors are unlocked, the car will start with a single press during the first 55 seconds after the unlock. Pressing the unlock button on the key resets the timer, the internal door locking button does not. After those 55...

I don't think that's the reason. I press it for a good second or so. This has been happening consistently ever since I got the car.

This is what I meant, e.g I get in the car, put some things away, press the brake pedal and push the button, but the car just goes to ACC. I don't press the pedal if I'm not intending to start the car.
