    Gary Giddings

Rest in peace, Gary. Without his generosity, things would certainly be a bit different in my world. A shame I haven't seen him in a few years, there's quite a bit I wanted to share about the EV industry now that I'm right in the middle of it. Oh well. With the pandemic slowly fading away, I...

    EVgo infrastructure thread

EVgo doesn’t have any 62 kW machines, photos on PlugShare show Chargepoint. (This is the thread about EVgo infrastructure)

2022 Plus won't charge at 100kW DC station

A little birdie told me that the Laurelwood San Mateo EVGo stations should be fixed with newer leafs. Hmbay- you should try charging here again, should work.

2022 Plus won't charge at 100kW DC station

A bit OT on the ChargePoint side but really quick. 140A is a weird value for a limit. No cable I know does that as it's rating. 125A and 200A are pretty much the main levels for CHAdeMO as far as cables go. From eyeballing it, ChargePoint is using a 125A Sumitomo cable, with a black housing...

2022 Plus won't charge at 100kW DC station

According to the ChargePoint data sheet, they can only do 140A on CHAdeMO, which maybe if the car will allow that current at 400V would be around 55kW. CCS on those goes to 174A or 200A, so a bit more for low voltage cars. I know it’s a pain, but if you could also try on Signet and charge...

2022 Plus won't charge at 100kW DC station

Try the stations at Belmont - https://www.plugshare.com/location/309517 Be sure to try the 100kW Delta's as well as the signets. Both should give you 200A, - ~75kW.

Guess what I spotted at Nissan HQ today? Version 3

I suspect this is just the Japan-spec model, nothing more. Notice the steering wheel on the right side. Right side flap likely has J1772 (AC only).

    CHAdeMO dead?

This is not true, all of EAs CCS connectors support the full CCS voltage range, regardless of power level.

Nissan Leaf Gen1 - Performance Chip Tuning

Very cool that you got a cooperative shop/dealership. Or at least one that didn't notice the logger. ;) Glad to see the leaf is getting more and more "open" this way. Another cool one to log would be the yearly battery test (is this still a thing? Been years since I've owned a leaf). I believe...

    Electrify America Network

That's an ABB Terra 175. 175kW peak. 350A. One cabinet to one dispenser feeding one car. Like all EA equipment the dispenser has two connectors but only one can be used at a time. https://www.evchargesolutions.com/ABB-Terra-HP-175-DC-Fast-Charging-Station-p/abb-ter-hp-175-dcfc.htm ABB also...

    Chevrolet Bolt & Bolt EUV

2018 Kia Soul EV with the 30kWh pack had 100 cells in series. https://www.mykiasoulev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=938 Audi e-tron has 108 cells in series. https://electricrevs.com/2018/04/21/audi-e-tron-vs-jaguar-i-pace-battery-pack-comparison/ Original Tesla Model S 60kWh pack had 74 cells in...

    Chevrolet Bolt & Bolt EUV

No it doesn't. It could be any reasonable number of cells like 182, which would 4.1v per cell at 746v at 100% SOC. 800V is just a nice round marketing number, after all.

LEAF gen 1 CHAdeMO protocol conformance

A 2015 Leaf will follow the CHAdeMO spec pretty much to a T. Compatibility between a given station and vehicle is not usually an issue these days, and CHAdeMO itself is pretty simple compared to the monstrosity that is CCS. I suspect the issue is either with your vehicle itself (not leafs in...

LEAF gen 1 CHAdeMO protocol conformance

The 2011 and 2012 Leafs have an incorrect calculation for remaining time to full, which is displayed by some chargers. I believe it always counts down from 254 minutes. That particular problem is mostly harmless, however.

2020 Nissan Leaf, How to enable V2G?

Any Leaf 2014 or newer supports V2G out of the box. There's no settings in the car. The car allows discharge down to a certain SOC (I believe 20%). There is not a "wants to be charged or discharged" with CHAdeMO V2G, there are limits that the car lets the station know about, and the station can...
